Cabo San Lucas Boat Cruises – Shared Sunset Sailing Cruise

A sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas is a boat leaving the marina in the late afternoon and staying near the Arch while the sun goes down over the Pacific. I compared six, from $82 to $199 and from 2 to 3 hours: a sail with the engine off, a party boat, two pirate ship dinner shows, a catamaran dinner and a chef-dinner yacht. For every other boat I compared, see my guide to boat tours in Cabo San Lucas. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.

My pick for a sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas is the shared sunset sail from Cabo Sailing Ocean Adventures at $84: 2 hours, 4.9 from 138 reviews, snacks and an open bar. If I wanted a show, I’d take the $99 pirate ship.

Sunset Cruise Cabo San Lucas Times

A sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas only works if the boat is on the water at the right time. These are sunset times for the 15th of each month, taken from the sunrise-sunset.org service for the coordinates of the marina in the America/Mazatlan time zone. Baja California Sur does not change its clocks, so the same offset applies all year. They can be a minute or two off; check any date on the NOAA solar calculator.

Month Sunset (mid-month) Month Sunset (mid-month)
January 5:57 PM July 7:08 PM
February 6:17 PM August 6:52 PM
March 6:30 PM September 6:24 PM
April 6:41 PM October 5:55 PM
May 6:54 PM November 5:36 PM
June 7:07 PM December 5:38 PM

The swing is about an hour and a half between winter and summer. The listings do not give departure times that I can see, so look at the slots offered for your date. I’d board about an hour before sunset so the boat is at the Arch as the light turns gold.

Sunset Dinner Cruise Cabo San Lucas

A sunset dinner cruise in Cabo San Lucas comes in two styles, and the Wild Cabo pirate ship is the livelier. It costs $99 for 2 hours, with a pirate crew, a BBQ dinner of ribs, chicken and pork, and an open bar. There are two listings of this cruise on GetYourGuide. One has 4.4 from 125 reviews, the other 4.4 from 59. Both give the same check-in at Dock 0 behind the Breathless Resort, and both ask you to pay the $5 dock and protected-area fee in cash.

The Sun Rider catamaran is calmer. At $115 for 2.5 hours it offers a Mexican buffet, an open bar and a double-deck boat with a dance floor and 360-degree views. Premium drinks are $7 each, the lobster dinner is $20 extra, and it is rated 4.5 from 52 reviews. I cover dinner trips in more detail on my dinner cruise page.

Best Sunset Cruise Cabo San Lucas

The best sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas, on the reviews, is the shared sail. Cabo Sailing Ocean Adventures costs $84, lasts 2 hours and has 4.9 from 138 reviews. The listing starts the trip with sightseeing past Lover’s Beach, Land’s End and the Arch, then the crew switches from engine to wind power as the sun gets lower. Wine, appetizers and a premium open bar are included, with gratuities and transport to the dock.

It is a small-group, laid-back trip, and the listing says people with back problems, heart problems or mobility impairments should not book. Wheelchair users cannot join. The boat leaves from F Dock, about 50 meters ahead of Lorenzillo’s restaurant in the IGY marina, so check which marina your map points to. I wouldn’t take a toddler on a sailboat with an open bar, but for couples and adult friends it is the one I’d choose.

Catamaran Sunset Cruise Cabo San Lucas

A catamaran sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas in my data means the Pez Gato party cruise or the Sun Rider dinner boat. The Pez Gato cruise costs $82 for 2 hours, is rated 4.4 from 130 reviews and is for guests 18 and older. The itinerary lists a 20-minute photo stop at the Arch, 30 minutes of scenic views, 20 minutes of sunset and 30 minutes of free time. It includes round-trip transport (arranged 48 hours ahead), music and an open bar. The listing says the mood may be relaxed or may turn into a real party.

I’d choose this one for a group of friends rather than for a quiet evening. It is the cheapest sunset boat on my list, but it has the loudest atmosphere and one of the lowest ratings.

Private Sunset Cruise Cabo San Lucas

A private sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas is not one of the six trips on this page, but I have a private boat on my sailing page. The private 38-foot sailing boat from Cabo Sailing Ocean Adventures costs $600 for 3 hours, and its listing describes sunset sails with appetizers, an open bar and your own music. For a bigger private boat, my yacht charter page lists the chef-dinner yacht and a private express cruise.

The chef-dinner yacht from Wild Cabo is the dinner option that comes closest to private: $199, 3 hours, live music and games with an MC, with fish, chicken or vegan dinner. It is not private, as other guests share it, and a reviewer counted around 20 on board with about 8 crew. It is rated 4.2 from 31 reviews, so I’d read the recent ones.

Sunset Sail Cabo San Lucas

A sunset sail in Cabo San Lucas means the sail with the engine off, and I know of one operator that sells it. Cabo Sailing Ocean Adventures also runs the private sailing boat and a half-day snorkel-and-sail trip. The shared sunset sail is the only one with the engine cut at sunset. The others use the boat as a floor for a show, a party or a dinner.

If you want the sail and the view, book the sail. If you want a meal, look at the dinner boats above. In both cases I’d check the cancellation line: all six trips refund in full up to 24 hours ahead.

What to Bring on a Sunset Cruise

For a sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas I’d bring a light jacket, because the wind on the Pacific cools quickly after the sun goes, plus sunglasses for the last light and a phone with a full battery. Bring cash for the $5 dock fee on the pirate ship and the Sun Rider catamaran, where the listings say it is paid on arrival. Premium drinks on the Sun Rider boat are $7 each.

Arrive when the listing asks. The pirate ship asks for 30 to 45 minutes before boarding, and the Sun Rider catamaran wants check-in 30 minutes before the start. A sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas leaves on time because the light does not wait.

The pirate ship and the chef-dinner yacht from Wild Cabo check in at Dock 0, behind the Breathless Resort next to La Terminal. The shared sail boards at Dock F in the IGY marina. Sun Rider meets in front of the Sr. Frogs store. Pez Gato picks up at your hotel, if arranged 48 hours ahead.

Is alcohol included on a sunset cruise in Cabo San Lucas?

Yes on all six, but the drinks differ. The shared sail has an open bar with wine and snacks, the pirate ships serve beer, vodka, tequila and sodas, the Sun Rider open bar covers rum, tequila, vodka, gin and cocktails, and the party cruise has an open bar. Premium Sun Rider drinks cost $7 each.

Not on all of them. The Pez Gato party cruise is for guests 18 and older, and the Wild Cabo chef-dinner yacht does not take children under 18. The pirate ship shows have no age limit in the listings, but they exclude pregnant women and people prone to seasickness. Check the age line at checkout.
