A sunset cruise Santorini visitors can book falls into two styles: a long sail with swim stops and dinner, or a short volcano cruise timed for the evening light. I compared the four dedicated sunset tours on GetYourGuide, from a $34 three-hour trip to a $140 sailing cruise with a seafood barbecue. If you want the wider picture first, my guide to boat tours in Santorini compares all 16 trips I found. Prices are in US dollars from the listings, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links.
My pick, in one line: I’d book the Volcano Yachting sunset cruise at $118. It scores 4.8 from 555 reviews, lasts five hours, starts at Vlychada beach and includes swim stops, a BBQ dinner and an open bar. I’d choose Barca Sailing at $140 for a smaller group, and the $34 MTM cruise only for a quick, cheap look at the volcano. I haven’t sailed any of them, so this rests on the listings and the review snippets.

A sunset cruise Santorini style, in the form of a sunset boat tour Santorini sells, means you are on the water for the last light, not rushing back. The four tours differ in how they get there. Volcano Yachting is a sailboat tour that starts from Vlychada beach and lists the hot springs, Red Beach, White Beach, Black Mountain beach and the Venetian lighthouse. The listing says you sail along the southern coastline, which it describes as lunar-like, and eat a BBQ dinner on board.
The MTM Sunset Dinner Cruise is shorter, at four hours, and sails across the caldera past the underwater craters to Thirasia. You get free time on the island before dinner. It scores 4.3 from 1,302 reviews, a little lower than the sailing tours. Pickup is at selected central locations, and the listing doesn’t state a meeting point.

MTM Experiences
My pick: Four hours to Thirasia and dinner afterwards: $84, 4.3 from 1,302 reviews.
A Santorini sunset cruise catamaran is the trip most people picture, and it is covered on my catamaran tour page. The two Sunset Oia catamarans have a sunset option: the $67 trip lists a sail back inside the crescent-shaped caldera with a sunset option, and the $123 luxury day trip is sold as a morning or sunset departure. I haven’t made them cards here because the listings don’t give a fixed sunset departure time, and this page compares the tours built around the sunset. If sunset on a catamaran is your goal, read that page next.
One thing worth knowing is that a catamaran has a flat deck for sitting and a bar to lean on, while a sailboat tilts a little under sail. That is general boat knowledge, not something the listings promise, so check the booking page for the vessel type of your option.
A sunset cruise Santorini Greece itinerary, like any sunset cruise Santorini visitors book, starts with the question of when the sun actually goes down. The table below is my own calculation from the island’s coordinates, about 36.4 degrees north and 25.4 degrees east, using Greece’s summer time from the end of March to the end of October. Treat it as a guide to within a few minutes, and check the Hellenic National Meteorological Service at hnms.gr for your date.
| Month (mid-month) | Sunset, local time |
|---|---|
| January | 17:24 |
| February | 17:57 |
| March | 18:24 |
| April | 19:51 |
| May | 20:16 |
| June | 20:37 |
| July | 20:36 |
| August | 20:10 |
| September | 19:27 |
| October | 18:43 |
| November | 17:11 |
| December | 17:04 |
The MTM volcano cruise gives a fixed schedule: meet at 16:15, depart at 16:30, three hours in total. Three hours after 16:30 is about 19:30. By my table that means you would see the sunset from the water between roughly October and March, but in June you would be back well before it. The listing may have other departure times, so check the slot you select.

MTM Experiences
My pick: The $34 option: three hours to Nea Kameni and the hot springs, with food and the 5 euro volcano fee extra.
A dinner cruise Santorini evening, which is also a sunset cruise Santorini style, is a good way to use the sunset hour, and three of the four tours include a meal. The MTM Sunset Dinner Cruise lists dinner and a local guide, and excludes additional drinks and optional tips. Volcano Yachting serves a BBQ dinner with an open bar of local drinks, plus snorkeling gear, jackets, towels and Wi-Fi. Barca Sailing serves a seafood barbecue with local white wine, Greek beer, soft drinks and water.
Dinner timing depends on the vessel and departure. The listings don’t say whether you eat before or after the sun goes down, so I wouldn’t promise a window seat at a particular moment. If you have dietary needs, tell the operator after booking: the Sunset Oia listing mentions vegetarian options, but none of the four sunset listings spell out vegan or allergy handling.
Sunset sailing Santorini trips are the quieter end of the list. Barca Sailing’s five-hour sunset sailing cruise with a meal has 4.8 from 91 reviews and costs $140. It boards at Vlychada Marina and sails toward Red Beach and White Beach, with time to swim and snorkel near Mesa Pigadia. It is described as a small group, and the pickup is by coach from one of five locations, which include Oia, Perissa, Kamari, Mitropoleos Street and Akrotiri. The coach ride is listed at about one hour, so allow for that when you plan the rest of your day.
The listing mentions the white houses of Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli seen from the water. It has fewer reviews than Volcano Yachting, so I would read the most recent ones before booking. For other sail-powered options, see my page on sailing in Santorini.
Night tourBarca Sailing
My pick: Small-group sailing with a seafood barbecue and local wine, $140, 4.8 from 91 reviews.
This table is built from the listings. Boat types are as the operators describe them.
| Tour | Operator | Price | Duration | Boat | Rating | Cancellation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunset Cruise with Swim Stops, Dinner, and Drinks | Volcano Yachting | $118 | 5 hours | Sailboat | 4.8 (555) | Free up to 24 hours |
| Sunset Dinner Cruise | MTM Experiences | $84 | 4 hours | Cruise boat | 4.3 (1,302) | Free up to 24 hours |
| Santorini Caldera: Sunset Sailing Cruise with Meal | Barca Sailing | $140 | 5 hours | Sailing boat | 4.8 (91) | Free up to 24 hours |
| Santorini Volcano and Sunset Caldera Cruise | MTM Experiences | $34 | 3 hours | Cruise boat (Aegean Soul) | 4.3 (819) | Free up to 24 hours |
The best sunset cruise Santorini offers depends on what you value, so here is how I’d split it. For overall quality, Volcano Yachting: it is the only one that combines a 4.8 rating with hundreds of reviews and includes dinner, drinks and swimming. For a small group and a long evening, Barca Sailing, although its 91 reviews are fewer. For the lowest price and a view of the volcano, the MTM $34 cruise, as long as you eat before or after.
I wouldn’t choose a sunset cruise Santorini trip on the rating alone: the two MTM tours score 4.3, which is still good for a tour with hundreds of reviews, and the dinner cruise has the most reviews of the sunset tours at 1,302. If you want the evening to be private, the private boat tour page has catamarans that can be booked for sunset, and the snorkeling page covers the swim stops in more detail.
Here is my short checklist.

The four dedicated sunset cruises I compared cost $34 for the three-hour MTM volcano cruise, $84 for the MTM dinner cruise, $118 for Volcano Yachting's sailboat and $140 for Barca Sailing's small-group sailing cruise. Dinner is included in three of them. All four offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
I calculated it from the island's coordinates: about 17:04 in December, 18:24 in March, 20:16 in May, 20:37 in June, 19:27 in September and 18:43 in October, mid-month, local time. Cruises should be on the water about an hour before. Check the departure time on the booking page against your date.
I think it is if you pick one with a swim stop and a meal. Volcano Yachting has 4.8 from 555 reviews and Barca Sailing 4.8 from 91, both with dinner and drinks. The cheapest option, at $34, is worth it only if you mainly want the volcano and hot springs, as food is not included.
Three do. The MTM Sunset Dinner Cruise includes dinner, Volcano Yachting includes a BBQ dinner and an open bar, and Barca Sailing includes a seafood barbecue with wine and beer. The $34 MTM volcano cruise does not include food, though you can buy drinks at the bar on board.
Volcano Yachting starts at Vlychada beach and Barca Sailing at Vlychada Marina, both on the south coast. MTM's volcano cruise leaves from Athinios Port, gate 5. The MTM dinner cruise lists pickup at central locations but no meeting point, so I'd confirm it with the operator after booking.
