Sunset Oia
Catamaran Tour with BBQ Dinner, Drinks, and Music
4.6 (7,367) · from $67

A catamaran Santorini trip is the standard way to see the caldera from the water: a wide two-hulled boat, a meal and drinks on board, swim stops at the hot springs and the colored beaches, and hotel pickup in most cases. I compared the six catamaran tours on GetYourGuide, from a $67 shared barbecue cruise to a $943 private boat. Everything below is from the listings, in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and booking links are affiliate links. For the full picture of every trip type, start with my guide to boat tours in Santorini.
My pick: the Vista Yachting Gold Catamaran at $95. It has 4.8 from 3,554 reviews, starts and ends at Vlychada Marina, and includes a guide, a meal, an open white wine bar and snorkeling gear. If you care more about price, Sunset Oia at $67 has 7,367 reviews. I haven’t been on board any of these, so my view comes from the listings and review snippets.

Vista Yachting

Catamaran Santorini Greece trips mostly leave from one of two places. Vlychada Marina on the south coast is the base for Vista Yachting, Spiridakos and Sail Away. Ammoudi, the little harbor below Oia, is where Sunset Oia and SantoriniYachtingClub start. In a straight line the two are about 15 km apart, using my place coordinates, so the choice shapes your day. From the south you swim at Red Beach and White Beach first and reach the caldera later; from Ammoudi you are already inside the caldera, with Thirasia close.
The Greek National Tourism Organisation describes Santorini as an island with an active volcano that you can stay inside, on Visit Greece, and that is the scenery every catamaran in Santorini is selling. Most shared listings also offer hotel pickup and drop-off, so you rarely need to find the port yourself.
A catamaran Santorini tour from Sunset Oia is the one most travelers book, because it combines the lowest price with the most reviews. The red catamaran leaves from Ammoudi Port; the listing says to be there by 9:15 AM at the latest, which tells me the standard departure is in the morning even though the trip is sold as a sunset one. The itinerary lists the hot springs, 30 minutes at Red Beach, White Beach, a barbecue supper on board and a sail back inside the caldera, with a sunset option. It costs $67, lasts five hours and is rated 4.6 from 7,367 reviews. Music, beer, towels and a restroom are on board, and wheelchair users are excluded.
The same company’s luxury day trip costs $123, has 4.8 from 4,425 reviews and lasts five to six hours. It is sold as a morning or sunset trip, includes a Greek meal with vegetarian options, an open bar with a cocktail, a 30-minute stop at the hot springs, snorkel gear and a shower. The extra $56 buys a better rating, a longer day and more included extras. I’d pay it for a special occasion; for everything else the $67 trip is good value.

Sunset Oia
My pick: Most reviewed in Santorini: $67, barbecue supper and music, 4.6 from 7,367 reviews.

Sunset Oia
My pick: The upgrade: a Greek meal, open bar and snorkel gear, 4.8 from 4,425 reviews, $123.
A Santorini boat tour volcano visit on a catamaran means a swim at the hot springs, not a hike. The warm, sulfur-rich water is the volcanic stop on most Santorini catamaran itineraries. Wikipedia describes Nea Kameni, the islet in the middle of the caldera, as the most recent cone built by the volcano, formed from 1707 with its last eruption in 1950, on its Santorini article. Spiridakos lists Palea Kameni for a 30-minute swim and the volcano as a 15-minute sightseeing stop, and Sail Away lists the Nea Kameni hot springs.
If you want to walk on the volcano itself, the MTM cruise is built for that. It includes an optional volcano hike and charges a 5 euro entry fee in cash. You can read about it on my page on sunset cruises in Santorini.

SPIRIDAKOS PLEASURE YACHTS P.Y.M.C.
My pick: Small-group catamaran with Palea Kameni and the volcano on the route: $85, 4.8 from 1,793 reviews.
Santorini sailing tours are different from the catamaran Santorini trips above, because the boat is a sailboat and the group is often smaller. Spiridakos blurs the line: its listing is a sailing catamaran for $85, so it belongs on both pages. For pure sailboats, such as the Blue Lagoon Deluxe and Barca Sailing, go to my page on sailing in Santorini. The practical difference is a quieter ride and a slightly more active feel on a sailboat, against more deck space and an easier swim platform on a catamaran. That is a general point, not something the listings promise.
Spiridakos offers several options on the same listing. Its ‘Classic’, ‘Premium’ and ‘Luxury’ options include hotel transfers by air-conditioned minibus, and the Joy Cruise with BBQ and Drinks (No Transfers) does not. The meal is a barbecue buffet with chicken fillet, pasta with tomato sauce, Greek salad and vine leaf rolls, with white wine and soft drinks.
A catamaran Santorini day trip usually takes five hours, which in practice is a morning or afternoon plus the transfer. Vista Yachting is the clearest example: you start at Vlychada Marina, swim at Red Beach, pass White Beach and the Venetian lighthouse, swim at the volcano hot springs, view the caldera cliffs and finish with a barbecue lunch at Mesa Pigadia beach. The listing says lunch or dinner depending on the start time you select, so the same boat can serve as a daytime or evening trip.
For a private version, Sail Away’s catamaran is the pricey one. It costs $943 for five hours with a captain and a crew member, a meal with seafood, butter beans and dolmades, local wine and beer, snorkeling gear, fuel, taxes and port fees. It has 5.0 from 212 reviews. The listing says hotel pickup is shared by minivan, with an extra charge for some locations, so check what applies to you. The SantoriniYachtingClub boat is the budget private option at $129; see my private boat tour page for how the two compare.

Sail Away - Santorini Catamaran Sailing
My pick: Private crewed catamaran with fuel and port fees included: $943, 5.0 from 212 reviews.

SantoriniYachtingClub
My pick: Private catamaran from Ammoudi Bay with a BBQ, open bar and paddleboard, $129, 4.9 from 181 reviews.
A catamaran Santorini sunset is possible on both Sunset Oia trips, because each lists a sunset option. The $67 listing mentions sailing back inside the caldera with a sunset option available, and the $123 listing describes a morning or sunset departure. Neither gives me a fixed departure time, so I can’t tell you exactly when you will be on deck for the sunset. As a guide, I calculated mid-month sunset from the island’s coordinates: about 20:37 in June, 19:27 in September and 18:43 in October. For a month-by-month table and the dedicated sunset tours, see my sunset cruise page.
If sunset matters most, book the late slot and check the exact time on the booking page. A morning departure gives you the opposite: calmer light, and the hot springs before the crowds. That is my reading of how the slots work, not a promise from the operator.

Here is how I’d decide in four steps.
Every one of these catamaran Santorini listings offers free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead, so you can book early. When you want the full comparison across sailboats, kayaks and rentals, go back to my guide to boat tours in Santorini or the home page.
The six catamaran tours I compared cost $67 for the Sunset Oia BBQ trip, $85 for Spiridakos, $95 for Vista Yachting, $123 for the Sunset Oia luxury day trip, $129 for a private SantoriniYachtingClub boat and $943 for the private Sail Away catamaran. Check on the booking page what each price covers.
All six include a meal and drinks. The shared trips add snorkeling gear and, on most, hotel pickup, towels and an open bar. The Sunset Oia luxury trip adds wind jackets and a shower on board, and Vista Yachting lists an experienced guide and life jackets. Spiridakos transfers depend on the option you select.
Yes. Sunset Oia's two trips each list a hot springs stop, Vista Yachting lists the Volcano Hot Springs, Spiridakos stops at Palea Kameni and the volcano, and both private boats from Sail Away and SantoriniYachtingClub visit the hot springs. The Sunset Oia luxury listing gives the stop as 30 minutes.
A catamaran has a wide, flat deck, which helps if you want space to move around, eat and swim. A sailboat is quieter and tilts under sail. The listings don't compare them, so I'd choose on the rating, group size and price: my catamaran pick is Vista Yachting at $95, 4.8 from 3,554 reviews.
All six catamaran listings offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, for a full refund. If the weather looks poor, contact the operator after booking to ask what happens on the day, because the listings do not describe a weather policy.
