A catamaran in Barcelona is the easy way onto the water: a wide, stable boat with room to walk around, a bar and, on most departures, music. I compared four catamaran trips on GetYourGuide, from a $16 one-hour ride to a $56 party cruise with a BBQ. For every other kind of trip, my page on boat tours in Barcelona compares all 18 side by side.
My pick in one line: for the best Barcelona catamaran I’d book the Orsom sunset catamaran at $31, rated 4.7 from 3,574 reviews. If you want a swim and a meal I’d book the Catamaran Sensation cruise at $56. Prices are in US dollars from the listings, checked in October 2026, and booking links are affiliate links.

CATAMARAN ORSOM
My pick: My catamaran pick: $31, 78-foot boat, live jazz, 4.7 from 3,574 reviews.
A Barcelona catamaran trip is a shared departure on a big boat, so you do not need to book a private group to enjoy it. Four catamarans are in my data, and they differ in length, mood and what is included. The table puts them side by side. All four allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
| Catamaran | Operator | Price | Rating (reviews) | Duration | Included | Meeting point |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunset catamaran with live music | Orsom | $31 | 4.7 (3,574) | 1.5 to 2 hours | Welcome drink, live jazz | End of Las Ramblas, opposite the Columbus monument |
| Sunset or day catamaran with tapas | This Is MED (Gray Line) | $30 | 4.5 (3,542) | 2 hours | Tapas, water, soft drinks, sangria | Port Marina Vela office |
| Party cruise with BBQ | Catamaran Sensation | $56 | 4.3 (1,985) | 3 hours | Swim stop, BBQ, 2 beers or sangrias, soft drinks | Beach between Torre Mapfre and Hotel Arts |
| Daytime or sunset catamaran with music | Julia Travel Gray Line Spain | $16 | 4.3 (7,195) | 1 hour | Kids Corner, live music at sunset; drinks extra | City Sailing Barcelona tickets office |
The Orsom is the Barcelona catamaran tour I would send a first-time visitor on. The boat is 78 feet long and sails silently once the crew hoists the sails, according to the listing. You can sit with a drink from the on-board bar, or lie on the nets about a meter above the water. The route is a round trip from the foot of Las Ramblas along the city’s beaches, and the listing says it makes no stops. One reviewer in the listing would have liked more comfortable seating, so if comfort matters to you, the This Is MED listing, which stresses seating areas, may suit you better.
The Gray Line catamaran is the budget option. At $16 for 1 hour it is the cheapest ticket in my entire set of 18, and its 7,195 reviews at 4.3 make it the most reviewed. The listing describes a wooden bar designed to look like waves, a Kids Corner, and a ticket contribution to a clean-up of the Mediterranean and coral planting. Cocktails and snacks are sold on board.

My pick: The cheapest catamaran: $16, 1 hour, Kids Corner, 4.3 from 7,195 reviews.
A Barcelona catamaran sunset cruise is the most popular use of these boats, and the light is the whole point. Sunset in Barcelona falls at about 9:28 pm in June and 5:24 pm in December on the 15th of the month, which I took from sunrise-sunset.org using the city’s coordinates. My sunset cruise in Barcelona page lists every month. Three of the four catamarans can be booked at sunset: Orsom, This Is MED and Gray Line.
This Is MED is the one with the most food. It runs 2 hours from Marina Vela, next to the W Hotel and Barceloneta Beach, with room for up to 30 guests and a captain and crew. The welcome includes music and complimentary drinks, tapas such as fuet, breadsticks, cheese, olives and Spanish omelette, plus extra bar service for sale. The daytime option includes a 30-minute swim stop and inflatables, and the sunset option sails with the city lights coming on. It costs $30 and scores 4.5 from 3,542 reviews.

Julia Travel Gray Line Spain
My pick: Tapas and sangria on a 30-guest catamaran: $30, 2 hours, 4.5 from 3,542 reviews.
The party catamaran is Catamaran Sensation. It leaves from Port Olimpic for 3 hours, drops anchor near Badalona for a swim, and brings out a BBQ with grilled veal or veggie burgers, Spanish omelette, crudites, chips, olives, bread with sauces and seasonal fruit. Drinks are unlimited soft drinks plus two beers or sangrias after the swim, and the crew leads choreography to the music. The listing offers departures at 11:00, 14:30 and 18:00. It costs $56 and scores 4.3 from 1,985 reviews.
The meeting point is unusual. The listing says not to enter the marina and to walk to the beach between Torre Mapfre and Hotel Arts instead. Bring towels and sun protection, which the listing says are not included. If you want a louder, DJ-led catamaran, my party boat in Barcelona page compares the three boat parties, including Stoke Travel’s two-hour DJ catamaran.

Catamaran Sensation
My pick: Swim, BBQ and music: $56, 3 hours, two drinks included, 4.3 from 1,985 reviews.
Catamaran hire in Barcelona, meaning a catamaran for your own group, is not something I could compare. None of my 18 trips is a catamaran charter. Google Maps lists agencies that advertise catamaran rental, such as Sondevela Catamaran Barcelona (5.0 from 332 reviews) and Blue Magic Cat (4.7 from 102 reviews), but I have no prices or terms for them. For a private group on a sailing yacht, my private boat tour in Barcelona page compares three options, and the yacht charter in Barcelona page compares four yachts.
Catamarans are stable, so they suit people who worry about seasickness more than a small sailing yacht does. That is general boating knowledge rather than something the listings promise, and sea conditions still matter, so I would not rely on it if you are very sensitive. What the listings do promise is space: This Is MED says there is plenty of room and comfortable seating areas for 30 guests, the Orsom has a bar and a net area above the water, and the Gray Line boat has several corners for photos.
Boarding is simple on all four, but the meeting points are not. The Gray Line and This Is MED trips are both sold by Julia Travel Gray Line Spain and meet at different offices, so double-check which one your ticket names. The drinks policy also differs: Orsom includes a welcome drink and sells the rest, This Is MED includes sangria and soft drinks, and Gray Line sells drinks on board. If you plan to drink, compare the totals, not only the ticket prices, because the $30 ticket already includes drinks and tapas while the $16 ticket sells them separately.
The practical difference is size. A catamaran carries 30 or more guests, so you get space to walk, a bar and a social mood, but you share the boat with many people. A sailing yacht like SeaBarcelona holds 10, so the trip feels more personal and you can try the sailing. My sailing in Barcelona page compares four of them. If you want to get in the water rather than watch it, the snorkeling tour in Barcelona page covers kayak and snorkel trips.
Whichever catamaran in Barcelona you choose, check the meeting point, because the four boats leave from four different places. Free cancellation lasts until 24 hours before the start, so you can watch the weather. For every trip I compared, go back to Barcelona boat tours, or start from the Harbour Advisor home page.
In my comparison, four catamaran trips run from $16 to $56. The Gray Line catamaran is $16 for 1 hour, This Is MED is $30 for 2 hours, the Orsom sunset catamaran is $31 for 1.5 to 2 hours and the Catamaran Sensation party cruise is $56 for 3 hours. All prices are in US dollars with free cancellation.
The Orsom sunset catamaran has live jazz, and its listing describes a 78-foot boat with nets where you can lie 1 meter above the water. The Gray Line catamaran has live music on its sunset option only. The Catamaran Sensation cruise has upbeat music and a crew that leads choreography.
On two of them. The Catamaran Sensation cruise has a swimming stop near Badalona with a giant donut, and the This Is MED daytime option stops for 30 minutes so you can swim and play with the inflatables. The Orsom listing describes a round trip with no stops, so there is no swim.
Yes, two. This Is MED includes tapas such as fuet, cheese, olives and Spanish omelette, with water, soft drinks and sangria. Catamaran Sensation includes a BBQ meal with veal or veggie burgers, Spanish omelette, crudites, chips, olives and fruit, plus two beers or sangrias. Orsom and Gray Line sell snacks on board.
The Gray Line catamaran is the one I'd choose for a family. Its listing includes a Kids Corner, it lasts 1 hour and costs $16. The Catamaran Sensation cruise has a swim stop and music but also serves beer and sangria, so check the booking page for age rules before you take young children.
Orsom meets at the end of Las Ramblas, 100 meters opposite the Columbus monument. This Is MED meets at the Port Marina Vela office by the W Hotel. Gray Line uses the City Sailing Barcelona tickets office. Catamaran Sensation tells you to meet on the beach between Torre Mapfre and Hotel Arts.
