Travelin´ Lady Tenerife
Travelin’ Lady: Eco Yacht Whale & Dolphin Safari + Swim
4.7 (19,596) · from $34

If you want whale watching in Tenerife, the south-west coast is where the boats go, and four trips in my data do it for $31 to $39 per person. They are an eco yacht, a glass-bottom catamaran, a catamaran with free drinks and a cruise from Los Gigantes. For the swimming, party and fishing trips, my guide to boat tours in Tenerife has every listing I compared. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.
My pick is the Travelin’ Lady at $34: 1.5 hours from Los Cristianos, rated 4.7 from 19,596 reviews. For a longer whale watching tour in Tenerife with drinks included, the Eden catamaran at $39 is rated 4.7 from 4,247 reviews. All four listings offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
A Tenerife whale watching tour is a short boat trip, not a day out, and all four of mine fit into 1.5 to 3 hours. The Travelin’ Lady listing says it is the only boat in Tenerife designed specifically for whale watching rather than adapted, with an environmentally certified hull and a low centre of gravity that, according to the operator, reduces seasickness. It lists a guide, a bar, a toilet on board, port taxes, life jackets and rafts, a first-aid kit and hotel pickup and transfer. Snacks and drinks are sold on board, and there is time to swim and snorkel.
One reviewer wrote that they saw pilot whales, dolphins and a shark. Another thanked the crew by name, which is the kind of small detail I trust. The tour is $34 and lasts 1.5 hours, and I would book it first because the review count is the highest in my list by a long way.

Los Cristianos is where the Vision Submarine whale watching trip starts, from Paseo Juan Bariajo, and its listing puts the no-chase promise in the title. The catamaran has a glass bottom for viewing marine life from below, a lounge and a bar, and the route includes the Cave of Love. It costs $31 for 1.5 hours and is rated 4.6 from 15,566 reviews. Its operator also says its captains hold higher licences that let the boat go further offshore, where larger whale species may appear when they are in the area.
Reviewers say the dolphins came close and that they saw small whales as well, and the listing supports marine conservation through a contribution from each ticket. That is the operator’s statement. If your priority is a trip that treats the animals gently, this is the listing that makes the strongest promise.

VISION SUBMARINE 100% NO CHASE, RESPECTFUL TOURS GUARANTEED
My pick: The cheapest ethical-minded option: $31, 1.5 hours, 4.6 from 15,566 reviews, glass-bottom catamaran with a no-chase promise.
Los Gigantes is on the west coast, near the cliffs, and the Flipper Uno cruise starts at the port, where its office is at the entrance on the right-hand side and the staff wear yellow T-shirts. The trip costs $31 for 2 hours and is rated 4.7 from 5,884 reviews. It looks for whales and dolphins, passes the Los Gigantes cliffs and the Masca coast, then anchors in a bay such as Masca, Barranco Seco or Juan López for a swim. One cold drink and hotel pickup are included.
Los Gigantes is about 25 kilometres from Puerto Los Cristianos and about 21 kilometres from Puerto Colón in a straight line, by my calculation from the place coordinates, so it is a drive from the south resorts. One reviewer mentioned parking at the port as a struggle, so I’d arrive early. A second reviewer saw dolphins very close and called the guides knowledgeable.

Flipper Uno
My pick: The scenic option: $31, 2 hours, 4.7 from 5,884 reviews, with the Los Gigantes cliffs and a swim stop.
Costa Adeje boats leave from Puerto Colón, and the Eden catamaran is the whale watching trip there that I’d choose. It meets at Pier 4, where you look for the boat named Eden Catamaran. The tour is $39 for 2 to 3 hours and rated 4.7 from 4,247 reviews. The listing says the boat travels 2 or 3 miles from the coast, passes fish farms where dolphins look for food and includes free water, soft drinks and beer.
The 3-hour option adds snorkelling gear and a swim stop. Reviewers say the crew explained everything with patience, found short-finned pilot whales and dolphins and put on music. Eden is also in my catamaran comparison, so if you prefer to compare it with the sunset and snorkelling catamarans, see the page on a catamaran tour in Tenerife.

Eden Catamaran S.L.
My pick: A longer sail with drinks: $39, 2 to 3 hours, 4.7 from 4,247 reviews, with free drinks and snorkel gear on the 3-hour option.

On the question of a Tenerife whale watching season, the answer from the operators is that there isn’t one. The Travelin’ Lady listing says whales and dolphins live in these waters all year round, the Eden listing says its pilot whales live permanently in the area and are seen all year, and the Vision Submarine listing describes resident pilot whales and dolphins. I haven’t found an official count or a guarantee, so treat this as the companies’ claim.
What changes with the months is the weather and the light. A summer afternoon is hotter and calmer than a winter one, and sunset trips shift by around three hours across the year, as the sunset table on my catamaran page shows. Ask the operator about the sea state on your date, and if a trip is cancelled for weather, expect a refund or a new date, as the listing explains.
Every whale cruise here also looks for dolphins, and several reviewers mention both in the same breath. If dolphins are your main interest, my page on dolphin watching in Tenerife covers the three cruises that name them, with the same prices. The kayak operator Xplore also lists dolphin watching on its route, but that is a paddle, not a whale boat.
My short answer for whale watching in Tenerife is the $34 Travelin’ Lady, because 19,596 reviewers rate it 4.7 and it adds a swim stop. Here is how I’d decide:
Before you book a whale watching tour in Tenerife, check the pier and the departure time on your confirmation, and whether you need to be there 15 or 20 minutes early. Pick a trip above and use the booking links to see availability, or compare everything in Tenerife boat tours. The homepage lists the other cities I cover. For a swim and snorkel afterwards, see snorkelling in Tenerife.
The four whale watching tours I compared cost $31 to $39 per person. The Vision Submarine and Flipper Uno cruises are $31, the Travelin' Lady eco yacht is $34 and the Eden catamaran is $39. Lengths run from 1.5 to 3 hours. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and each listing offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
For a first trip I'd book the Travelin' Lady eco yacht: $34, 1.5 hours from Los Cristianos, 4.7 from 19,596 reviews, with a swim stop. If you want a longer sail with free drinks, the Eden catamaran at $39 is rated 4.7 from 4,247 reviews. Both operators say whales and dolphins live in these waters all year.
The operators say so. The Travelin' Lady and Eden listings both say the animals live in these waters all year round, and the Vision Submarine listing says resident pilot whales and dolphins give one of the highest sighting rates in Europe. These are the companies' own claims, and no operator can guarantee a sighting on the day.
Three of the four sail from the south-west coast: the Travelin' Lady and the Vision Submarine from Puerto Los Cristianos, and the Eden catamaran from Pier 4 in Puerto Colón. The Flipper Uno cruise leaves from the port of Los Gigantes, about 25 kilometres north-west of Los Cristianos in a straight line.
It depends on the boat. The Vision Submarine listing promises a 100% no-chase policy, and the Travelin' Lady listing describes observing animals without chasing or disturbing them. I can't verify how any captain behaves on the day, so I'd choose a trip whose listing states a no-chase approach and keep your distance from the animals.
On three of the four, yes. The Travelin' Lady includes time to swim and snorkel, the Flipper Uno cruise anchors in a bay for a swim, and the Eden catamaran includes a swim and snorkel stop on its 3-hour option. The Vision Submarine listing in my data does not mention a swim stop.
