Amigo Tours LATAM
Catamaran with Open Bar, Snorkeling and Lunch
4.2 (3,335) · from $35

Boat tours in Cancun fall into five kinds: a full day on a catamaran to Isla Mujeres, a half day on the reef, a party cruise, a private yacht and a paddle trip through the Nichupte Lagoon mangroves. I compared 14 Cancun boat tours, from $29 to $510, and the cheapest day out is also one of the best-reviewed. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.
My pick for a first boat tour in Cancun is the Amigo Tours LATAM catamaran at $35: 8 to 10 hours, 4.2 from 3,335 reviews, with snorkeling, an open bar and a beach club on Isla Mujeres. If I wanted a quieter, cheaper reef day, I’d take the Puerto Morelos snorkel tour at $29 (4.3 from 427 reviews). For a private party, the Cancun yachts rental boats start at $314 for the whole boat.
Boat tours in Cancun mostly start in the Hotel Zone, the long sandbar that separates the Caribbean from the Nichupte Lagoon, and they point toward Isla Mujeres, the island about 10 kilometers north of the marinas. I measured that straight line from Marina Las Perlas to Punta Sur, the island’s southern tip, using the coordinates in my place data. The big difference between one boat tour in Cancun and the next is whether you share a deck with a hundred people or have a yacht to yourself.
The catamaran day is the classic Cancun boat tour. The Amigo Tours LATAM trip at $35 has 3,335 reviews, which is by far the most in my list, and it lists snorkeling, an open bar and access to a beach club on Isla Mujeres. Its options step up from that: with a buffet lunch, or with hotel pickup as well. The port fee of $20 is listed as not included, so the real price is closer to $55. At the other end I’d look at the $411 luxury yacht for up to 14 guests, which departs from the Sunset Admiral Yacht Club and Marina and lists bottled water, soda, ice and snorkeling gear. It has 4.4 from only 4 reviews, so I treat it as promising rather than proven.

Amigo Tours LATAM
My pick: The default choice: $35, 8 to 10 hours, 4.2 from 3,335 reviews, open bar and snorkeling; add the $20 port fee.

Cancun yachts rental
My pick: Whole yacht for up to 14 guests at $411, 2 to 6 hours; only 4 reviews, so I'd ask about the route before booking.
Cancun boat trips do not have to be loud or crowded, and some Cancun boat tours are barely boats at all. The calmest boat tour in Cancun I found is the sunset kayak through the mangrove channels of Nichupte Lagoon, run by Go Kayak Cancun: $50, 2 hours, rated 4.8 from 283 reviews. You paddle with a bilingual guide, a life jacket and a single or tandem kayak, and the listing says no experience is needed. It excludes children under 8, pregnant women and anyone over 254 lbs (115 kg), so it is not a family trip for small kids.
At the other extreme sits the Rockstar Boat Party: $105, 3 hours, 18 and over, an all-you-can-drink cruise from Caribbean Carnival Pier. It has a 3.2 rating from only 6 reviews, so the evidence is thin, and its sister trip below is the safer party pick. Two Cancun boat tours, two completely different evenings. The party boat’s late-arrival rule is strict: the boat does not wait and nobody is refunded.

Go Kayak Cancun
My pick: My quiet pick: $50, 2 hours of mangrove paddling at sunset, 4.8 from 283 reviews, not for kids under 8.

Rockstarcrawls
My pick: 18+ booze cruise for $105; 3.2 from only 6 reviews, so I'd choose the Hip Hop Sessions boat instead.
Cancun boat cruises that feel like a night out come in two flavors: a DJ and an open bar, or a slow sunset sail with cocktails. The Hip Hop Sessions party boat from Rockstarcrawls costs $105 for 3 hours and has 4.6 from 319 reviews. The listing includes all you can drink, sandwiches, guest DJs, a swimming and snorkeling stop and a champagne shower. A $10 docking fee is paid in cash at check-in. My separate guide to party boats in Cancun compares both Rockstar boats.
The sunset option is the pata de peek travel sail to Isla Mujeres with a Cancun transfer: $76, 5 hours, a perfect 5.0 from just 1 review. It meets at Oasis Smart on Tulum Avenue, then drives you to the dock, sails to Isla Mujeres, stops at Playa Norte and returns after dark. It includes rum, vodka, tequila, sodas, snacks and free time in Isla Mujeres town. One review is not much, but one reviewer wrote about the atmosphere on board, and the price is fair for a transfer, a sail and drinks. For more evening ideas, see my sunset cruises in Cancun page.

Rockstarcrawls
My pick: Best-reviewed party boat in my list: $105, 3 hours, 4.6 from 319 reviews, open bar, DJ and a swim stop.
Night tourpata de peek travel
My pick: Sunset sail with transfer for $76, 5 hours, 5.0 from 1 review; a good price but almost no proof yet.
A speed boat tour in Cancun is the fast, active version of a Cancun boat tour, and the only one I found is the Teve Transfers and Tours trip at $147. Over 5 hours it combines driving your own speedboat, snorkeling at a reef off the mainland, a stop at Playa Delfines (also called Dolphins Beach), parasailing and a photo at the Cancun sign. It is rated 5.0 but from just 1 review, so I’d read the listing carefully before booking.
The listing covers an air-conditioned van, snorkel gear, water, a light Mexican snack and juice, and a federal marine tax of $20 per person paid at check-in. It excludes children under 5, pregnant women, anyone with back or heart problems, anyone afraid of heights and anyone over 260 lbs (118 kg). The beach itself is rated 4.8 by about 30,000 Google reviewers in my place data, and it sits 10.7 kilometers south of Marina Las Perlas as the crow flies.

Teve Transfers & Tours
My pick: The only speedboat day: $147, 5 hours with snorkeling, Playa Delfines and parasailing; 5.0 but from 1 review.
A private boat tour in Cancun is priced per boat, not per person, so the numbers look high until you divide them by your group. The Private Yacht Tour from Cancun yachts rental costs $314 for 2 to 6 hours: a 2-hour bay cruise or a 4 to 6 hour run to Isla Mujeres with snorkeling. It includes bottled water, 4 liters of Coca Cola, ice, snorkeling gear and the $13-per-person docking fee. Food, hotel pickup and tips are extra, and it has 4.6 from 16 reviews.
The 46-foot flybridge yacht from the same company costs $510, adds a snorkeling instructor and hotel pickup and drop-off, and leaves from Marina Sunset at kilometer 5.8 of the Hotel Zone boulevard. It is rated 4.7 but from only 4 reviews. If you want the full comparison of crewed boats, my yacht charter page for Cancun lines up all three. For a group of six, $314 works out at about $52 each before food, which beats several shared Cancun boat tours.

Cancun yachts rental
My pick: Cheapest private boat at $314, 2 to 6 hours, 4.6 from 16 reviews; the most proven of the three yachts.

Cancun yachts rental
My pick: 46-foot flybridge for $510 with snorkeling instructor and hotel pickup; 4.7, but from only 4 reviews.
The best boat tours in Cancun, by my numbers, are the ones with hundreds of reviews and a clear list of what is included. The Trekzy catamaran tour to Isla Mujeres costs $56, runs 8 to 10 hours and is rated 4.2 from 377 reviews. It lists an open bar, snorkel gear, travel insurance and a lunch that depends on the option you choose. Guides wear blue backpacks, T-shirts or carry umbrellas, which makes finding them easier on the pier. The listing shows the $20 port fee as both included and not included, so check your option at checkout.
If you would rather stay near the mainland, the Extreme Adventure Cancun snorkel trip is the best budget buy in the list at $29. It goes to the Puerto Morelos reef, about a 15-minute drive from Cancun according to the listing, with snorkel gear, a bilingual guide, a light lunch, hotel pickup and the $15 reef tax included. It is rated 4.3 from 427 reviews. The listing is honest that fish sightings are not guaranteed.

Trekzy
My pick: Second-most reviewed catamaran: $56, 8 to 10 hours, 4.2 from 377 reviews; check how the port fee is listed.

Extreme Adventure Cancun
My pick: Cheapest trip in my list: $29, 4 to 6 hours, 4.3 from 427 reviews, reef tax and hotel pickup included.
None of the 14 trips in my data is a dolphin-watching tour, and I will not pretend otherwise. The name that confuses people is Dolphins Beach, the local name for Playa Delfines, a public beach on the Hotel Zone boulevard. The speedboat trip above stops there, but the listing never promises dolphin sightings. For marine wildlife the honest options in this list are the reef trips, where the Puerto Morelos operator notes that sightings are not guaranteed.
If you want dolphins specifically, check the park rules first. The Mexican national protected areas agency, CONANP, publishes the rules for the marine park around Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancun and Punta Nizuc, and operators must follow them. I’d rather send you to the snorkeling guide than to a vague dolphin promise, and my snorkeling tours in Cancun page covers every reef trip I found.
A boat ride in Cancun does not have to be a boat ride at all: the Skyrider parasailing trip from Aquaworld goes up from the back of a boat, then hangs you above the Nichupte Lagoon and the Hotel Zone for a 10-minute flight. It costs $60 for a 30-minute activity, with 4.6 from 149 reviews. The price includes instruction, the life jacket, hotel pickup and photos and videos. A reef preservation fee of $22 per person is paid in cash at check-in, and you should arrive 30 minutes early.
I include it here because many people who search for a boat ride in Cancun want something short, and this is the shortest trip in my list. It is a couple’s activity, not a family sail: the listing is built around two flyers. Anyone who wants to stay on deck rather than in the air should skip down to the catamaran sections, or read my page on sailing in Cancun.

Aquaworld Cancún
My pick: Short and high: $60, 30 minutes with a 10-minute flight, 4.6 from 149 reviews, $22 reef fee in cash.
Boat excursions from Cancun to Isla Mujeres are the day trips most visitors remember, and these Cancun boat tours fill up fast in winter. The second Amigo Tours LATAM listing is the Isla Mujeres Catamaran Ride with open bar and buffet lunch: $68, 8 hours, rated 3.7 from only 13 reviews. It meets at Marina Las Perlas, where you check in 15 minutes early. It lists bilingual hosts, snorkeling, an open bar, a buffet lunch, beach club access, the $20 dock fee and transport to the dock.
The listing excludes pregnant women, people with back problems, wheelchair users and people prone to seasickness. I would choose its $35 sibling instead, because that one has 3,335 reviews and a higher rating. The gap in price comes from the buffet and the dock fee being rolled in. Boat tours in Cancun like this one are a sound choice when you want one price on the checkout page, and a less sound one when the rating is below 4.0. This one is.

Amigo Tours LATAM
My pick: Same operator as my default pick but $68 and 3.7 from 13 reviews; I'd only book it for the all-in price.
A boat ride in Cancun, Mexico can also be a paddleboard. The Conexion Nativa sunrise or sunset stand-up paddleboarding tour costs $47 for 2 hours and starts at Marina Kaybal, downstairs from the Las Hijas de la Tostada restaurant. It includes the board, life vest, paddle, a certified guide, photos and transport, and it takes you over the calm water of the Nichupte Lagoon. It has a 5.0 rating but from only 5 reviews, and it excludes people over 220 lbs (100 kg).
Both the sunrise and the sunset slots are bookable, which is rare in my list. Sunset in Cancun runs from about 6:06 PM in November to 7:33 PM in July, and my sunset page has the full table. A paddle tour suits you if the idea of a motor and a bar sounds like too much. For a larger vessel, the catamarans above carry far more people.

Conexion Nativa Cancun
My pick: Quiet 2-hour paddle at sunrise or sunset for $47; perfect 5.0 but from only 5 reviews.
Most of what you see on a Cancun boat tour is water in several shades of blue, the Hotel Zone skyline and, if you head north, the long low outline of Isla Mujeres. The route map below follows the stops of the Amigo Tours LATAM catamaran, which sails along the Cancun coast, snorkels at a reef, lands at Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres and gives you free time in town.

Stops on the route
The distances are short. Marina Las Perlas and Marina Kaybal are 1.1 kilometers apart, so a Hotel Zone hotel is never far from a pier. The island’s southern tip, Punta Sur, is 10.4 kilometers from Marina Las Perlas as the crow flies, and the lighthouse at Punta Cancun is 6.4 kilometers from it. Those are straight-line figures I computed from the coordinates, not sailing distances. For official tourism information on the region, the Quintana Roo tourism board is the source I’d check.
Most boat tours in Cancun leave from one of a handful of marinas along the Hotel Zone boulevard, and the kilometer markers are how locals give directions. Marina Las Perlas at kilometer 2.5 is the check-in point for both Amigo Tours LATAM catamarans. Marina Kaybal at kilometer 3.5 is where the paddleboard tour starts, and Marina Albatros sits just one kilometer from Las Perlas. Marina Sunset, at kilometer 5.8, is the yacht base. The party boats board at Caribbean Carnival Pier by the Playa Tortugas ferry terminal, which is easy to find in the Hotel Zone.

Pick the trip type first and the boat second when you plan a Cancun boat tour, because the type decides the price, the length and the crowd. This table is built from the 14 listings in my data. Each type has its own page where I compare the boats side by side.
| Trip type | Price from | Typical duration | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snorkeling tour | $29 | 4 to 10 hours | Reef days and the cheapest full-day prices |
| Catamaran tour | $35 | 8 to 10 hours | Isla Mujeres with an open bar and a beach club |
| Yacht charter | $314 | 2 to 6 hours | Private groups of up to 14 |
| Party boat | $105 | 3 hours | DJ, open bar and nights out with friends |
| Sailing trip | $60 | 30 minutes to 5 hours | Parasailing, sailing and speedboat days |
| Sunset cruise | $47 | 2 to 5 hours | Golden hour, mangroves and Isla Mujeres at dusk |
My short answer for a first boat tour in Cancun is the $35 Amigo Tours LATAM catamaran, because 3,335 reviewers rate it 4.2 and the day includes snorkeling, an open bar and a beach club. Here is how I’d decide, in order:
Before I booked any boat tour in Cancun, I’d check three things: the port, dock or reef fee that is paid on the day, the meeting point (it differs by option on several listings) and the cancellation text, which is free up to 24 hours for all 14. Browse the Cancun boat tours above, pick one, and use the booking links to see current availability for your dates.

For most visitors I'd book the Amigo Tours LATAM catamaran to Isla Mujeres: $35, rated 4.2 from 3,335 reviews, 8 to 10 hours with snorkeling and an open bar. If you want one cheap snorkel day on the reef, the Puerto Morelos tour is $29 and has 427 reviews. For a private group, the yacht options start at $314.
I compared three catamaran days to Isla Mujeres. Amigo Tours LATAM costs $35 with 3,335 reviews, Trekzy costs $56 with 377 reviews, and a second Amigo Tours listing costs $68 but has only 13 reviews and a 3.7 rating. All three run 8 to 10 hours and add snorkeling, an open bar and a beach club.
Shared trips in my list run from $29 for the Puerto Morelos snorkel tour to $147 for the speedboat day with parasailing. A 3-hour party boat is $105, and the private yachts cost $314 to $510 for the whole boat. Check the extras on each listing, because dock, reef and marine fees of $10 to $22 per person are often paid on top.
Most catamaran days check in at Marina Las Perlas in the Hotel Zone at kilometer 2.5. The party boats board at Caribbean Carnival Pier next to the Playa Tortugas ferry terminal, the kayak tour meets at Marina Scuba Cancun and the yachts use Marina Sunset at kilometer 5.8. Several tours include hotel pickup, so read the meeting point first.
Every one of the 14 trips lists free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start for a full refund. The Rockstar party boats add one rule: the boat does not wait for late arrivals, and late arrivals are not refunded. A few operators can also cancel for unsafe weather, so I'd check the policy text on the day I book.
Yes. Three private yachts from Cancun yachts rental cost $314 for a 2 to 6 hour tour, $411 for a luxury yacht for up to 14 guests and $510 for a 46-foot flybridge. All three offer a short bay cruise or a longer run to Isla Mujeres with snorkeling, and food and alcohol are not included.
Yes, three. The Go Kayak Cancun trip paddles the mangroves of Nichupte Lagoon for $50, the stand-up paddleboard tour is $47 for 2 hours, and the sunset sail to Isla Mujeres with Cancun transfer is $76 for 5 hours. Sunset in Cancun falls between about 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM, depending on the month.
