Barcelona Sailing Day
Private Sailing Trip with Drinks & Snacks (max 9)
5.0 (116) · from $224

A private boat tour in Barcelona means you book the boat for your own group, with a skipper, and choose between a small motorboat, a sailing yacht and a bigger charter. I compared three on GetYourGuide: Seaesta at $111, Ruta 40 Charters at $162 and Barcelona Sailing Day at $224. For every other kind of trip, my page on boat tours in Barcelona compares all 18 side by side.
My pick in one line: for a private day with a group of friends I’d book Barcelona Sailing Day at $224, rated 5.0 from 116 reviews, and for the cheapest private departure I’d book Seaesta at $111. Prices are in US dollars from the listings, checked in October 2026, and booking links are affiliate links.

A private boat tour in Barcelona is the one time you control the schedule. All three private boat tours in Barcelona below are private groups with a skipper or captain, free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and a meeting point that differs by operator. The table sets them side by side.
| Trip | Operator | Price | Rating (reviews) | Duration | Group | Meeting point |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private motorboat with skipper | Seaesta | $111 | 4.7 (59) | 1 to 2 hours | Up to 4 guests plus skipper | Port Forum |
| Private yacht or sailboat with captain | Ruta 40 Charters | $162 | 4.9 (34) | 1 to 2 hours | Private; number not stated | Port Olimpic, gate 7 |
| Private sailing trip with drinks and snacks | Barcelona Sailing Day | $224 | 5.0 (116) | 1 to 10 hours | Max 9 guests | Moll de la Marina, Port Olimpic |
The ratings of Seaesta and Ruta 40 rest on few reviews, 59 and 34, so I trust them less than the 116 behind Barcelona Sailing Day. Even that is a small sample next to the shared trips on my other pages.
Private boat hire is where the rules matter on a private boat tour in Barcelona. The Seaesta listing sells a private trip on a brand-new 2026 Barqa Q17, a 5-meter open motorboat with a front sundeck, bimini top and swim ladder. It costs $111, the price covers a professional skipper, fuel, boat insurance, life jackets, safety equipment and a safety briefing, and it takes up to 4 guests plus the skipper. The listing describes it as a boat for which no boating licence is needed.
Be careful with that claim. Spain rewrote the rule on 1 October 2026: Real Decreto 1188/2025 changed article 10 of Real Decreto 875/2014, so the licence-free exemption for motorboats up to 5 m and 15 hp now covers private use only, and a renter must hold the matching title. The Seaesta ticket includes a skipper, which is a different case from renting the boat yourself, but I would still ask Seaesta which licence or skipper option applies before you pay.

Seaesta
My pick: The small private motorboat with skipper: $111, up to 4 guests, 4.7 from 59 reviews. Ask which licence rule applies.
Seaesta’s schedule is time-limited. It lists 1-hour trips every hour from 10:00 to 16:00, 2-hour trips from 10:00 to 15:00 and a 2-hour Golden Hour trip at 17:00. From 25 October, when the clocks change, the 1-hour trips run from 10:00 to 15:00, the 2-hour trips from 10:00 to 14:00 and the Golden Hour trip becomes 1 hour 45 minutes at 16:00. The skipper chooses the route within 5 nautical miles of the coast and sails only in daylight, and the boat is held for 15 minutes after the start before it counts as a no-show. Seaesta may cancel or shorten a trip for safety if the conditions require.
Among the private boat tours in Barcelona, the charter with the most flexibility is Barcelona Sailing Day. You choose the time, the skipper sails you out of Port Olimpic, and the group is limited to 9. The listing includes unlimited beer, red and white wine, soft drinks, bottled water and snacks such as olives and fuet, and soft cushions in the cockpit and on the bow. It speaks Spanish, Dutch, English, German and Danish. Search for Barcelona Sailing Day on Google Maps rather than Apple Maps, as the listing recommends, and take the yellow metro line to Ciutadella-Vila Olimpica.
Sunset is the popular slot for a private boat tour in Barcelona. Sunset falls at about 5:24 pm in December and 9:28 pm in June on the 15th of each month, according to sunrise-sunset.org and the city’s coordinates. My sunset cruise in Barcelona page lists every month.
A private yacht tour in Barcelona costs more but comes with more space. Ruta 40 Charters is the cheapest private yacht in my data at $162. It offers a private yacht or sailboat ride with a captain from gate 7 at Port Olimpic, with a choice of a sunset ride or a daytime trip to sail, anchor and swim. Drinks include cava, beer, soft drinks and water, and a paella is available at 45 euros per person extra. It scores 4.9 from 34 reviews.

Ruta 40 Charters
My pick: The private yacht with captain: $162, 1 to 2 hours, drinks included, 4.9 from 34 reviews.
For a bigger yacht, Barcelona Sailing runs private cruises on a 15-meter luxury yacht for up to 11 guests at $337 for daytime and $393 at sunset. They are on my yacht charter in Barcelona page with the shared Sphynx BCN yacht at $55.
People search for a private boat party in Barcelona, and I’d handle it with care. None of the three listings here mentions parties or events, so ask the operator whether music, decorations or a larger group are allowed. The Barcelona Sailing Day listing gives a maximum of 9, and the Seaesta boat carries only 4 guests, so neither is a party boat in the usual sense. If you want a DJ and a crowd, my party boat in Barcelona page compares three shared boat parties.
A private boat cruise in Barcelona can also be a sailing day with a swim. The Barcelona Sailing Day description says the yacht drops anchor for a short swim when the weather permits, and the sunset yacht on my other page includes a welcome drink. If you want a shared sailing trip instead, my sailing in Barcelona page compares four, and my catamaran tour in Barcelona page compares four catamarans. Those who want to get in the water should look at the snorkeling tour in Barcelona page.
The three listings differ on what is bundled, so compare the extras and not only the headline price. Seaesta includes the skipper, fuel, insurance, life jackets and a safety briefing, and says that everything else is extra, so budget for drinks and food. Ruta 40 Charters includes drinks but charges for paella. Barcelona Sailing Day includes the most: unlimited drinks and snacks for the whole group, which can make it the better value per person when you fill all 9 places. At $224 for 9 guests, that is about $25 each, against about $28 each for Seaesta with a full boat of 4 guests, and only the first includes drinks.
Arrive early on any private boat tour in Barcelona. Seaesta asks for 10 minutes before departure and holds the boat for only 15 minutes after the scheduled time, and Barcelona Sailing Day suggests public transport to avoid traffic around Port Olimpic.
Whichever private boat tour in Barcelona you choose, free cancellation lasts until 24 hours before the start. For every trip I compared, go back to Barcelona boat tours, or start from the Harbour Advisor home page.
In my comparison, three private options run from $111 to $224. Seaesta is $111 for a small motorboat with a skipper for up to 4 guests, Ruta 40 Charters is $162 for a yacht or sailboat with captain, and Barcelona Sailing Day is $224 for up to 9 guests. All prices are in US dollars. The private yachts on my other page cost more.
Not on the three trips I compared, because each includes a skipper or captain and you are a passenger. The Seaesta listing calls its boat license-free, but Spain changed the rule from 1 October 2026 with Real Decreto 1188/2025, so ask the operator which licence or skipper option applies.
It depends on the boat. Seaesta takes up to 4 guests plus the skipper in a 5-meter motorboat. Barcelona Sailing Day takes a maximum of 9 on a sailing yacht. The Ruta 40 Charters listing does not state a number, so check the booking page. The Barcelona Sailing private sunset yacht takes up to 11.
The listings I have do not describe parties, so ask first. Barcelona Sailing Day serves unlimited beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks to a private group, and SeaBarcelona mentions birthdays and celebrations on its private charters. For organised boat parties, see my party boat page, where the boats are shared.
From 1 to 10 hours, depending on the operator. Seaesta offers 1-hour and 2-hour trips, Ruta 40 Charters offers 1 to 2 hours, and Barcelona Sailing Day lets you choose anything from 1 to 10 hours. The private yachts on Barcelona Sailing run 2 hours.
On two of three. Ruta 40 Charters includes cava, beer, soft drinks and water, and Barcelona Sailing Day includes unlimited beer, wine, soft drinks, water and snacks. The Seaesta listing includes a skipper, fuel, insurance and life jackets, but lists no drinks, so bring your own or ask the operator.
