A river cruise in Singapore is the quickest way to see the Merlion, Clarke Quay and Marina Bay in one go, and the options range from a 40-minute bumboat ride to a four-hour night out with two light shows. I compared five Singapore river cruises on GetYourGuide, from $20 to $78. For every boat trip I looked at, see my guide to boat tours in Singapore. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.
My pick for a river cruise in Singapore is the Chope Your Tour night cruise at $23, rated 4.8 from 1,841 reviews. If you want only the boat, I’d take the $20 GlobalTix river cruise. I haven’t been on any of these boats, so my picks rest on the listings and review snippets.

River Cruise Singapore Ticket
A river cruise ticket in Singapore means one of two things, and knowing which you are buying saves money. The first is a boat-only ticket such as the GlobalTix e-ticket at $20: you go to Clarke Quay Jetty and sail for about 40 minutes with commentary, and the listing includes transport to the meeting point. It is a good fit if you already have your evenings planned and just want the water. A river cruise in Singapore this short also works for families with young children, since nobody sits through hours of coach travel.
The second is a tour that includes a river cruise ticket among other things. The Wanderlust Ventures night tour lists the Singapore River Cruise ticket, a licensed guide, a visit to Merlion Park and both light shows for $23. The Chope Your Tour option adds a bottle of water. When you compare a river cruise ticket in Singapore, divide the price by what you actually use: the boat is the same short ride, and the rest is a guided evening.
River Cruise Singapore Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is where most people expect the river cruise to start, and the GlobalTix boat does board at Clarke Quay Jetty. Boat Quay is about 0.7 km downstream, and Merlion Park is about 1.0 km away, based on the coordinates in my place data. That is why the ride is short: the route covers the old trading quays and then opens into Marina Bay.
On the guided tours, Clarke Quay is a stop rather than the start. The Chope Your Tour itinerary gives it a 15-minute stop with free time before the boat ride, and the Monster Day Tours cruise passes it on the water after leaving Fort Canning. Reviewers on the longer tours praise guides who knew where to stand before each show, which matters because the light shows start at set times and a late arrival from Clarke Quay means missing part of one.
Singapore River Bumboat Cruise
The bumboat is the traditional cargo boat of the river, and the GlobalTix listing describes its cruise as aboard a traditional bumboat with comfortable, sheltered seating. It passes Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Marina Bay, Merlion Park, Marina Bay Sands and the Esplanade, and the commentary tells how the river changed from a busy trading port into a waterfront.
The reviews are mixed on one point: one visitor liked the audio guide that pointed out sights they would have missed, another could not hear the narration at all. That is a typical risk on a short river cruise in Singapore with a recorded guide, so I’d sit near a speaker and read the voucher before you go. For history, the Singapore Tourism Board is a good starting point for what you will pass.
Singapore River Boat Cruise
If you search for a Singapore river boat cruise with a person talking, the guided evening tours are the better match. Wanderlust Ventures runs a 3 to 4 hour night tour with a licensed guide and lists a 35-minute river ride after 20 minutes at the Spectra show. The TRIVISTA tour includes a free upgrade to a 40-minute daylight river cruise in the price of $27.
Between them I’d lean to the Chope Your Tour option because it has more reviews, 1,841 against 870 and 408, and the same inclusions. The cheapest of these is $23, so the guided evening costs only $3 more than the plain ticket, if you can accept the 3 to 4 hours it takes.
River Tour Singapore
A river tour in Singapore is usually sold as part of a night out. The Chope Your Tour itinerary runs Merlion Park for 30 minutes, Clarke Quay for 15, the river cruise for 30, Gardens by the Bay for 10, Supertree Grove for 30, Marina Bay for 10 and Spectra for 20. Telok Ayer Market is a three-minute pass-by. The listing offers drop-offs in 243 locations.
The Wanderlust Ventures starry night tour at $77 is a separate trip, a longer guided evening with street food at Lau Pa Sat and hotel pickup. I count it as a tour that contains a river cruise, not one of the five main river cruise options, so I don’t compare it in the table.
Singapore River Tour
The Singapore river tour that feels most different is the dinner version. Monster Day Tours meets you at WaterB River Cruise in Fort Canning, 15 minutes before departure, and sails past Boat Quay, Merlion Park, Marina Bay, Esplanade Park, Robertson Quay and Clarke Quay. The listing serves a three-course bento dinner and adds that the route includes the sun going down at Marina Bay.
It has three reviews, so the 4.2 rating tells you little. I’d use it for a calm dinner for two or a small group, and for the food, see my Dinner Cruise Singapore page. If you would rather fish than sightsee, the other end of my list is on the Fishing Charter Singapore page.
How I’d Choose a River Cruise in Singapore
Here is how I’d decide in three questions.
- Do you want only the boat? Take the $20 GlobalTix ticket and keep your evening free, but check your date because it cannot be refunded.
- Do you want the light shows and a guide? Take the Chope Your Tour option at $23, or TRIVISTA at $27 if the free daylight upgrade appeals.
- Do you want dinner on the water? Take the $78 Monster Day Tours cruise, and read the reviews first.
