Adventure Dalmatia - Dubrovnik
Sea Kayaking&Snorkelling Guided Day/Sunset Tours
4.9 (4,491) · from $28

Snorkeling in Dubrovnik comes in two flavours: a quick swim at a sea cave beside the Old Town as part of a kayak trip, or a half-day boat out to the caves of Koločep. I compared the snorkeling tours on GetYourGuide and five include gear: three kayak trips from $27, the Blue Cave and 7 Caves boat at $55 and a self-drive retro rental at $180. If you also want the other options, my page on boat tours in Dubrovnik compares all 15 trips. Prices are in US dollars and come from the listings, checked in October 2026.
Dubrovnik, Croatia snorkeling is about clear Adriatic water, rocky shores and caves, not coral reefs. Fish are small and the water is cooler than in the tropics, but the setting beats any reef: you float under the city walls or drift into a cave where the light turns the water blue. The five tours below all provide a mask or similar gear, so you can travel without packing your own.
The best-rated all-rounder is Adventure Dalmatia at $28 for 2 hours: 4.9 from 4,491 reviews. You paddle along the walls, swim and snorkel at Betina Cave, which the listing says is accessible only by sea, and see Lokrum island. It lists kayak and paddles, life jackets, snorkeling equipment, a waterproof bag, water and insurance, with a guide. It runs by day and at sunset.

My pick: Swim at Betina Cave from a kayak: $28, 2 hours, 4.9 from 4,491 reviews, snorkeling gear included.
The second is the Dubrovnik Walks tour at $27, rated 4.8 from 1,113 reviews. It gives Betina Cave Beach a 20-minute break for swimming and snorkeling inside a 2-hour trip. The inclusions list kayaking gear, a waterproof barrel, water and insurance, and the title says snorkeling, but a mask is not in my inclusion list. Ask the operator before you assume.

Dubrovnik Walks & Sea Kayaking
My pick: The cheapest snorkel stop: $27 for 2 hours, with a 20-minute swim at Betina Cave Beach.
The third kayak option is Old Town Kayaking at $29, rated 4.9 from 850 reviews, for 2 or 3 hours. It stops at the walls, at Betina Cave Beach for swimming and snorkeling, and at Lokrum. Gear is clear: kayak, paddles, life jackets in children’s sizes, snorkeling equipment, a guide, waterproof bags, a 0.5-litre bottle of water and insurance. Wetsuits and windproof jackets are provided on cooler days in April and October, which makes this the tour I’d pick for a shoulder-season swim. Children under 6 and pregnant women are excluded.

Dubrovnik Old Town Kayaking
My pick: The beginner pick: $29, 2 or 3 hours, 4.9 from 850 reviews, wetsuits provided on cooler days.
For caves, you need a motorboat. The Gari Boat tour at $55 is the one I recommend in the group. See the Blue Cave section below. For a private option with gear included, go to my private boat tour page.

Blue Cave snorkeling in Dubrovnik means a trip to Koločep, the nearest of the Elaphiti Islands. The Blue Cave and 7 Caves tour from Blue Cave Dubrovnik, Private and Group tours, costs $55, takes 4 hours and scores 4.9 from 984 reviews. It meets at the Gari Boat office at Marina Frapa on Lapadska obala 21a, with the instruction to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before departure. The route passes the Franjo Tuđman Bridge and the Grebeni lighthouse, then visits the Blue Cave, three Green Caves, the Spilja cave and two Bezdanj caves, with time to swim and snorkel. Included are a professional skipper, welcome drinks, snorkeling masks, floating noodles and life jackets. Food is not included.

Blue Cave Dubrovnik | Private and Group tours
My pick: The cave snorkel: $55 for 4 hours, 7 caves, 4.9 from 984 reviews, a small-group feel.
The listing describes small groups and says you can also book private, but do not assume the boat is private unless you pick that option. Light in the Blue Cave depends on the time of day and the weather, which I cannot predict, so read the notes on the booking page and ask the operator what time gives the best colour on your date.
Snorkeling near Dubrovnik is also possible if you steer yourself. The Maura retro rental costs $180 for 4 to 8 hours and scores 4.6 from 20 reviews. You get a small wooden boat called Pasara with a 5-horsepower engine, a sun shade, a cooler, snorkeling equipment, life jackets and fuel. The itinerary lists the Blue Cave and Three Green Caves on Koločep, Šunj beach and Lopud. Non-swimmers, people prone to seasickness, people with mobility impairments and people over 80 are excluded.

Maura
My pick: Snorkel at your own pace: a retro boat with gear included, $180, but only 20 reviews so far.
Twenty reviews is a thin base, so I treat the 4.6 rating as provisional. I would also ask the operator which licence applies to your group, because I have not verified the Croatian rule for self-drive boats. My boat rental page compares the three rentals.
If you want the best snorkeling in Dubrovnik, match the place to the time you have, and remember that a Dubrovnik snorkeling tour is mostly a swim stop inside a longer trip.
The listings do not give water temperatures, so I will not quote any for snorkeling in Dubrovnik. The only seasonal evidence is the wetsuit note on the Old Town Kayaking tour for April and October. No listing gives an end date, and the best way to check late-season availability is the booking calendar for your dates. Sunset falls at about 6:07 pm in mid-October and 4:26 pm in mid-November, and the clocks change on 25 October, so a 4-hour cave tour has to start early in the day.
Bring swimwear, a towel, reef shoes if you have them, sunscreen and a change of clothes. Dubrovnik snorkeling tours supply the gear, but not the towel on every listing, so check the inclusions. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes on kayak days, because the changing space is limited, and keep a dry layer in the waterproof bag for the paddle back. A mask that fits your face is the one item worth bringing if you wear glasses or have a small face, because the gear provided is standard. Cameras are fine, but the kayaks give you a waterproof bag, so put your phone in it.
Kayak snorkelers should read the exclusions on my kayak tour page. Shared day cruises with swim stops at Koločep, Lopud and Šipan are on my island hopping page. For other cities, start from the Harbour Advisor home page. For every option in one list, see my page on boat tours in Dubrovnik. Whichever snorkeling tour in Dubrovnik you pick, I’d go in the morning, when the light is high and you have the most daylight.
From the tours I compared, the best-reviewed spots are the Blue Cave and Green Caves on Koločep island, and Betina Cave near the Old Town. The Blue Cave and 7 Caves tour at $55 scores 4.9 from 984 reviews. For a swim next to the city walls, Betina Cave on the kayak tours is the closest.
In my comparison, snorkeling tours cost $27 to $180. The kayak and snorkel tours are $27 to $29, the Blue Cave and 7 Caves boat is $55, and the Maura retro rental is $180. Gear is included in every one. Prices are in US dollars and listed from.
Yes, on all five I compared. Adventure Dalmatia and Old Town Kayaking list snorkeling equipment, Gari Boat lists snorkeling masks and floating noodles, and Maura lists snorkeling equipment. The Dubrovnik Walks kayak tour is billed as sea kayaking and snorkeling, but its inclusions list only kayaking gear, so ask them about a mask.
Not on the rental: Maura excludes non-swimmers. The guided tours rely on life jackets and floating aids, but the listings do not describe a non-swimmer policy, so ask the operator. Check the age limits too: Dubrovnik Walks excludes children under 8, and Old Town Kayaking under 6.
The listings run it in the warm months. Old Town Kayaking provides wetsuits and windproof jackets on cooler days in April and October, so that tour clearly runs into October. None of the five states an end date, so check availability for your date and ask the operator about water temperature in late autumn.
I'd pick the Old Town Kayaking morning tour at $29, rated 4.9 from 850 reviews. The guide gives a short safety briefing and basic paddling lessons, life jackets in children's sizes are listed, and the listing says it suits beginners and experienced paddlers alike. The swim stop at Betina Cave is relaxed.
