CARIBBEAN ROUTE PUNTA CANA
Catamaran Boat to Saona Island with Buffet Lunch
4.4 (4,750) · from $71

Boat tours in Punta Cana come in six shapes: a catamaran with an open bar, a party boat, a deep-sea fishing charter, a whale-watching day trip, a full day to Saona Island and a private yacht. I compared 17 Punta Cana boat tours on GetYourGuide, from $58 to $690. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.
My short answer: for one Punta Cana boat tour I’d book the Happy Fish Catamarans trip ($84, 3.5 hours, 4.8 from 457 reviews), and for a full day away from the resorts I’d take the Caribbean Route Saona Island trip ($71, 8 hours). One thing to know before you read on: the whale-watching trips do not sail from Punta Cana at all, and the Dominican Republic tourism site lists January to March as the whale months in Samana Bay.
Punta Cana boat trips, like most boat tours in Punta Cana, fall into two groups: the half-day outings of about 3.5 hours that sail from the Bavaro coast, and the long day trips that take you to another island or bay. The long one most people book is the Caribbean Route catamaran day to Saona Island. It costs $71 for 8 hours, is rated 4.4 from 4,750 reviews and includes hotel pickup, a speed boat and catamaran to the island, a 30-minute stop at a natural swimming pool, 3 hours on Saona, a buffet lunch with barbecue and an open bar. The listing says it is not suitable for pregnant women, people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users.
The route is the one my infographic follows, further down. If you want a trip that is mostly fishing, the Power Adventures deep-sea trip is $145 for 4 hours and targets marlin, sailfish, tuna and mahi-mahi. The third card in this section is a package rather than a pure boat tour: Dominican Travel Services sells a day with horseback riding, snorkeling and a sunset cruise for $99. It has no reviews yet, so I’d treat it as a sampler and read the booking page for the timings. A cheaper fishing alternative to Power Adventures is the creaturedes shared charter at $130 for 4.5 hours, with a captain, gear, bait, beer and rum, but it has only two reviews.

CARIBBEAN ROUTE PUNTA CANA
My pick: My pick for a full day: $71, 8 hours, Saona Island, a natural pool stop and buffet lunch, 4.4 from 4,750 reviews.

Power Adventures
My pick: Deep-sea fishing with gear, bait and drinks included: $145 for 4 hours, rated 4.4 from 36 reviews.

creaturedes LLC
My pick: A shared 4.5-hour fishing charter with beer and rum for $130, rated 5.0 but from only two reviews.

Dominican Travel Services
My pick: A $99 day that mixes horseback riding, snorkeling and a sunset cruise. No reviews yet, so check the timings first.
Boat tours in Punta Cana that you book for a few hours are cheap by Caribbean standards. The Sunny Adventures party boat is $59 for 3.5 hours and is rated 4.8 from 760 reviews. The route in the listing is a 30-minute cruise, 30 minutes of snorkeling and 2 hours at La Piscina Natural, the shallow sandbar pool, with a live hip-hop DJ and an open bar of national drinks. Round-trip transport to the meeting point is included.
For a calmer boat tour in Punta Cana than a DJ party, the second option is a 4-hour fishing trip for mahi-mahi at $100 from an operator called Punta Cana Travel Advisor. It runs with trolling lures, a van transfer of 45 minutes to Cabeza de Toro, and it is rated 3.6 from 66 reviews, the lowest score in my list. The listing excludes children under 14 and people prone to seasickness. The third, the Saona Island Club sunset cruise from 1080 Experiences, is a 9.5-hour day from Bayahibe hotels at $155 that ends on a catamaran at sunset, with a champagne toast and an open bar. It has no reviews yet and is listed in Spanish only.

Sunny Adventures SRL
My pick: The best-reviewed party boat: $59, 3.5 hours, 4.8 from 760 reviews, snorkeling and a natural pool stop.

Punta cana travel advisor
My pick: A 4-hour mahi-mahi trip at $100, but it is rated 3.6, so I'd read the reviews before booking.

1080 Experiences
My pick: A 9.5-hour Saona day that ends with a catamaran sunset: $155, Spanish only, no reviews yet.
A private boat tour in Punta Cana means the boat is yours for the length of the booking, so you set the pace at each stop. There are three in my list and all are expensive. Liva Boat’s yacht is $330 for 4 hours and is rated 5.0 from 14 reviews. It starts in Bavaro near Jellyfish Beach, includes snorkeling gear, a photographer, food and towels, and finishes at Marina Caribe Beach Club. The listing gives Spanish as its language.
The other two are built for couples. The private sunset cruise with seafood and champagne is $690 for a 2-hour cruise, plus roughly an hour each way by van, and is rated 5.0 from one review. The romantic yacht experience is $650 for 3 hours, in English, with snorkeling and a stop at Dolphin Island Park. It has no rating yet. I’d choose Liva Boat for the review record and the sunset cruise for a proposal or an anniversary. My pages on yacht charters in Punta Cana and sunset cruises in Punta Cana go through them in detail.

Liva Boat
My pick: The best-reviewed private option: $330 for 4 hours, 5.0 from 14 reviews, with snorkeling and a photographer.
Night tourPunta Cana Activities by SN
My pick: Two private hours at sunset with champagne and lobster skewers: $690, rated 5.0 from a single review.

Chute Em Up Parasail, S.R.L.
My pick: Three hours on a private motor yacht for two: $650, snorkeling and a dolphin park stop, no rating yet.
Reviews matter more than the photos when you choose a boat tour in Punta Cana, because the same bar and the same sandbar appear in nearly every listing. For a Punta Cana boat tour I use three numbers: the rating, the review count and whether the operator’s name appears on its own page. The strongest record among Punta Cana boat tours belongs to Happy Fish Catamarans: 4.8 from 457 reviews at $84. The listing sails to a nature reserve near Cabo Engano, stops at the floating bar at Sandbar Cove and includes snorkeling gear, a stand-up paddle board, nachos, fruit, bottled water, a restroom on board and hotel pickup.
Coastline Catamarans is the runner-up: $74 for 3.5 hours, rated 4.7 from 315 reviews, described as family friendly, with hotel transfers, an open bar, snacks and snorkeling gear.
The weakest evidence belongs to the whale trip on the second card. Dominican Attitude Excursions sells a 9 to 10 hour whale-watching day for $201, rated 4.4 from only 26 reviews. It starts around 7:30 am, includes a 105-minute bus ride to Miches, breakfast at the port, a 2 to 3 hour boat cruise and a lunch at Montana Redonda. That is a good price for a full day with a meal, but the sample is small and the cruise works only in whale season. The listing does not suit pregnant women, children under 3 or people with back problems or seasickness.

HAPPY FISH CATAMARANS
My pick: The review leader: 4.8 from 457 reviews, $84, 3.5 hours, snorkeling, open bar and paddle boards.

Coastline Catamarans
My pick: A strong runner-up: $74, 3.5 hours, family-friendly reef snorkeling, 4.7 from 315 reviews.

Dominican Attitude Excursions
My pick: A 9 to 10 hour whale day with breakfast and lunch for $201. Good value in season, but only 26 reviews.
Punta Cana boat tours by speed boat are not a separate product in my data. The only listing that names a speed boat is the Saona Island day above, which uses a speed boat and a catamaran to reach the island, so you get the fast leg and the relaxed leg in one trip. The Saona Island Club sunset cruise also takes a speedboat from the port. I found no stand-alone jet-boat tour that passed my filters, and I would not trust one that did not name its operator.
A Punta Cana boat ride that ends with a party is the most booked kind of short boat tour in Punta Cana. The Kayleeg catamaran party is $58 for 3.5 hours, the cheapest of my 17, and is rated 4.4 from 87 reviews. It offers hotel pickup in Cabeza de Toro, Bavaro, Uvero Alto or Punta Cana, unlimited drinks with alcohol for adults only, snacks, music, snorkeling gear, a guide and a visit to a natural ocean pool. Babies under 1 year are excluded. My party boat in Punta Cana page compares all three party options.
The second card is a different kind of boat ride. Whale Punta Cana runs a sanctuary day that starts with you meeting the guide at the Malecon in Samana at 8:30 am, so you must get to Samana yourself unless you select the hotel pickup option. It is listed at $6, rated 3.6 from five reviews, and lunch is on Cayo Levantado island. I’d use it only if you are already staying near Samana. The Whale Punta Cana trip from your hotel is the other whale option here: it meets around 6:30 am, drives to Sabana de la Mar port and returns at 4:30 pm, and its $6 price looks too low for that day, so check the total at checkout. For an adults-only alternative, the Hip Hop Party Boat is $59 for 4 hours with an open bar of national drinks, a natural pool and a one-hour bus transfer.

Kayleeg Tour and Travel SRL
My pick: The cheapest of the 17 at $58: a 3.5-hour catamaran party with snorkeling and a natural pool stop.

Punta Cana Activities by SN
My pick: An adults-only hip hop party for $59, 4 hours with an open bar and a natural pool, 4.3 from 91 reviews.

Whale Punta Cana
My pick: A whale and Cayo Levantado day with hotel meeting at 6:30 am. The $6 price looks like a deposit, so check the total.

Whale Punta Cana
My pick: A whale day that starts at the Malecon in Samana, not in Punta Cana. Rated 3.6 from five reviews.
Dolphin tours in Punta Cana are not a boat tour of their own in my list, but two of the private yachts list dolphin stops. Liva Boat lists a dolphin-watching stop, and the romantic yacht visits Dolphin Island Park, which Google Maps places only 0.3 km from the Natural Pool. Dolphin Island Park is rated 3.1 from 284 reviews, so I’d treat it as an attraction you see from the boat rather than a reason to book. I did not find a dolphin-focused boat tour in my data. If dolphins are your main reason to book, I’d ask the operator in writing whether a dolphin stop is a viewing from the boat or a paid visit to a park, because the listings word it differently. The Natural Pool, Dolphin Island Park and the Seaquarium all sit within 0.3 km of each other according to Google Maps, so a boat that stops at one is passing the others. For a first boat tour in Punta Cana I would book the catamaran and treat any dolphin sighting as a bonus rather than a promise.
On boat tours in Punta Cana the scenery is a long, low coast of palm-lined beaches, reef water in shades of turquoise, and the sandbar called the natural pool. Saona Island is the big-day version: the infographic follows the stops in the Caribbean Route listing, from the Bayahibe and Bavaro pickups through La Guira Cafe, Bayahibe Beach and the natural pool to the island itself.

Stops on the route
For ideas on what else to do on land, the official Dominican Republic tourism site is the national tourism board’s guide.
Boat tours in Punta Cana leave from a handful of places along a 25 km stretch of coast. The party boats and catamarans sail from the Bavaro side, and the Natural Pool is about 3.2 km in a straight line from Downtown Punta Cana and 5.7 km from Bavaro Beach. Private yachts use Marina Caribe Beach Club or Jellyfish Beach in Bavaro. The marina at Cap Cana is 15.1 km from Downtown Punta Cana and 22.2 km from Bavaro Beach, and Juanillo Beach sits 3.2 km from it. I list it because charters sometimes start there, though none of my listings names it.
The Saona and Bayahibe trips collect guests from hotels and the port at Bayahibe, about 55 km south-west in a straight line. For whale watching the boats leave from Samana Bay, around 117 km north-west. The places below are the piers, beaches and attractions you pass or see from the water.

Seven kinds of Punta Cana boat tour have their own page. The table gives the starting price and the usual length for each, from my list.

|---|---|---|---|

| Catamaran tour | $58 | 3.5 to 8 hours | A first boat day with food, drinks and snorkeling |
| Yacht charter | $330 | 3 to 4 hours | Couples and small groups who want a private boat |
| Whale watching | $6 listed | 9 hours plus | Visitors in January to March who accept a long transfer |
| Party boat | $58 | 3.5 to 4 hours | Friends who want music, an open bar and a sandbar |
| Fishing charter | $100 | 4 to 4.5 hours | Anglers and beginners who want mahi-mahi or marlin |
| Sunset cruise | $99 | 2 hours to 1 day | Couples who want champagne and an evening on the water |
Boat tours in Punta Cana look alike in the photos, so I use five questions to separate them.
Whichever boat tour in Punta Cana you choose, book a free-cancellation option and check the pickup point, because several listings start from a dock rather than your hotel. For a closer look at one kind of trip, read my pages on snorkeling in Punta Cana, the Punta Cana catamaran tours and whale watching from Punta Cana, or go back to my home page for other cities.

From my list of 17, the Saona Island catamaran day is the classic at $71 for 8 hours. For a shorter outing I'd pick a 3.5-hour catamaran with snorkeling, from $74, or a party boat from $58. Deep-sea fishing starts at $100, whale watching in season is a long day trip, and private yachts cost $330 to $690.
For most visitors I'd book a catamaran. Happy Fish Catamarans is $84 for 3.5 hours with snorkeling, food and an open bar, rated 4.8 from 457 reviews. If you want a full day instead, the Caribbean Route Saona Island trip is $71, 8 hours, rated 4.4 from 4,750 reviews, with a buffet lunch.
In my list the Caribbean Route catamaran trip to Saona Island costs $71 for 8 hours, with hotel pickup, a natural pool stop, 3 hours on the island, a buffet lunch and an open bar. A different Saona day that ends with a sunset cruise on a catamaran, from Bayahibe hotels, costs $155 for 9.5 hours.
All 17 listings I compared offer a full refund when you cancel at least 24 hours before the start, according to the booking-platform text. Weather can still change a sea trip, and private charters have their own terms, so I'd read the policy on the page of the tour you choose before you pay.
Most shared trips offer hotel pickup in Punta Cana, Bavaro, Uvero Alto or Cabeza de Toro and drive you to a dock. Private yachts start from Bavaro, near Jellyfish Beach, and finish at Marina Caribe Beach Club. The whale-watching day trips leave from ports in Samana Bay, so they involve a long drive.
The Dominican Republic's tourism site lists January to March as the whale season in Samana Bay. Samana is about 117 km in a straight line from Punta Cana, so these trips are full days with a transfer. Outside those months I wouldn't book a whale trip. My whale watching page compares the three listings.
Yes. The Hip Hop Party Boat from Punta Cana Activities by SN is listed as adults only, costs $59 for 3 hours on the boat and includes a natural pool stop and an open bar of national drinks. It is rated 4.3 from 91 reviews. The Kayleeg party catamaran limits alcohol to adults but does not say it is adults only.
Private boats are the expensive end of my list. Liva Boat's four-hour yacht tour with reef snorkeling costs $330, the three-hour romantic yacht for couples costs $650, and the two-hour private sunset cruise with seafood and champagne costs $690. I can't tell from the listings how many guests each price covers, so check the booking page.
