A sunset cruise in Punta Cana is the evening version of a boat tour: a crew, a drink in hand and the light going down over the Caribbean. I compared 3 sunset trips, from $99 to $690, and they appear in my full list of boat tours in Punta Cana. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.
My pick for a sunset cruise in Punta Cana is the private sunset cruise with seafood and champagne: $690, 2 hours on the water, rated 5.0 from one review. For a shared option I’d choose the Saona Island Club sunset cruise at $155.

Sunset Cruise in Punta Cana Dominican Republic
Sunset cruises in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, are rarer than the half-day catamarans. Of 17 boat tours in my list, 3 mention a sunset cruise, and none of them is a short shared evening sail.
Punta Cana does not change its clocks, so sunset moves by only 78 minutes across the year. I took the sunset on the 15th of each month from the free sunrise-sunset.org API for Punta Cana’s coordinates, in local time (America/Santo_Domingo, UTC-4 all year):

The range is 5:57 pm to 7:15 pm. None of the listings I read gives a departure time, so I’d check your booking page and compare it with the sunset time for your month in this table.
Sunset Catamaran Cruise Punta Cana
The nearest thing to a sunset catamaran cruise in Punta Cana is the Saona Island Club day from 1080 Experiences. It is $155 for 9.5 hours, with a pickup from your hotel in Bayahibe, a speedboat to Saona Island, a stop at a natural pool, a beach club, the fishing village of Mano Juan and a sunset cruise on a catamaran. The inclusions list a champagne toast, an open bar, meals, lounging in beach chairs and an exclusive beach club.
The rating is blank, so the evidence is thin, and the language is Spanish only. Non-swimmers and people prone to seasickness are on the exclusions list. I’d pick it for a long day with a sunset finish and not for a short romantic cruise. The Saona day without the sunset leg is on my catamaran tours in Punta Cana page.
Private Sunset Cruise Punta Cana
A private sunset cruise in Punta Cana is the one built for the hour itself. The listing from Punta Cana Activities by SN includes round-trip private hotel transport, a 2-hour private sunset cruise, a professional crew, champagne, fresh seafood skewers with shrimp and lobster, snacks, soft drinks and juices, and music. The itinerary shows a van of one hour each way, so the evening takes about 4 hours from door to door.
At $690 it is the most expensive trip in my list and it is rated 5.0 from one review, so I can’t call it proven. Tips are optional and premium alcohol is not included. If your budget is lower, the romantic private yacht is $650 for 3 hours with snorkeling and a dolphin park stop, though it is not sold as a sunset trip, and the details are on my yacht charter in Punta Cana page.
Dinner Cruise Punta Cana
I found no dedicated dinner cruise in Punta Cana, and I won’t invent one. The two sunset trips with food are the private cruise, with seafood skewers and champagne, and the Saona Island Club day, which lists meals. Neither says that dinner is served at a table on board. If a seated dinner is the point of your evening, a restaurant on the shore is a safer plan, and the sunset cruise can be a drink beforehand.
If you want music and a bar rather than a quiet evening, the boats on my party boat in Punta Cana page are the nearest alternative, though they are not sold as sunset trips.
The Horseback, Snorkeling and Sunset Package
Dominican Travel Services sells a day with a horseback ride in the morning, a snorkeling excursion and a sunset cruise, with hotel pickup and drop-off for all three, for $99. It is the cheapest sunset trip in my list by far, and it has no reviews and no stated times. The listing includes a professional horseback guide, safety equipment, snorkeling equipment and a snorkeling guide. It excludes food and drinks not specifically mentioned, lockers and premium upgrades. The sunset sail is the last part, so the day depends on the sea and the light. Snorkeling on its own is on my snorkeling in Punta Cana page.
Planning a Sunset Cruise in Punta Cana
Planning a sunset cruise in Punta Cana starts with the transfer, because the boat is only part of the evening. The private cruise lists a van of one hour each way, and the Saona Island Club day collects guests from hotels in Bayahibe, which is about 55 km south-west of Punta Cana in a straight line. If you stay in Bavaro or Cap Cana, ask the operator whether your hotel is on the pickup list before you book. Juanillo Beach and the marina at Cap Cana are 3.2 km apart and about 15 km from Downtown Punta Cana, so they are a reasonable meeting point only if the operator says so.
Then choose the month. Sunset is earliest in November, at 5:57 pm in the table above, and latest in July, at 7:15 pm. On a late-year sunset cruise in Punta Cana the light goes while you are still on the way back to the dock, so ask whether the return is after dark and whether the boat has lights. In summer you have more daylight but also a later finish, which matters if you have an early flight the next day.
Finally, check what is included. The private cruise includes champagne and seafood but not premium alcohol or tips. The Saona Island Club day lists an open bar and meals. The package at $99 excludes food and drinks that are not specifically mentioned, so bring cash for dinner. The cancellation window is 24 hours on all three, with a full refund, which matters more on a sunset cruise than on a daytime trip because a cloudy evening is hard to predict.
How I’d Choose a Sunset Cruise in Punta Cana
- A private anniversary or proposal: the $690 private sunset cruise.
- A long shared day with a sunset finish: Saona Island Club, $155.
- A cheap sampler: the $99 package, if you accept no reviews.
- A different kind of day: the fishing charter in Punta Cana trips, or the whale watching day trips between January and March.
Whichever sunset cruise in Punta Cana you pick, confirm the departure time, check the exclusions and book a free-cancellation option. For the whole list go back to every Punta Cana boat trip I compared, or to my home page.
