Boat Tours Punta Cana – Deep Sea Fishing Tour by Boat with Drinks

A fishing charter in Punta Cana is a shared boat that goes offshore for four hours or so, with a crew, gear, bait and drinks. I compared 3 fishing charters, from $100 to $145, and they all appear in my full list of boat tours in Punta Cana. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.

My pick for a fishing charter in Punta Cana is Power Adventures: $145, 4 hours, hotel pickup, gear, bait and drinks, rated 4.4 from 36 reviews. If you want the lowest price I’d look at the mahi-mahi trip at $100, but it is rated 3.6, the lowest in my list.

Fishing Trip Punta Cana

A fishing trip in Punta Cana, on the fishing charters in Punta Cana I compared, is a deep-sea outing rather than a river or reef trip. The Power Adventures listing says it caters to seasoned anglers and beginners, and that you go out to open waters and target marlin, sailfish, tuna and mahi-mahi. You are picked up from your hotel, transferred to the boat and taken on an offshore journey. The price of $145 includes fishing gear, bait, beer, soda and water. Food and tips are not included.

The cost per hour is the easiest way to compare the three: about $36 for Power Adventures, $25 for the mahi-mahi trip and $29 for the creaturedes charter. The cheapest per hour is also the weakest on reviews, and the most expensive has a record of 4.4 from 36 reviews. I’d pay the extra for the better record, but a budget angler could reasonably go the other way.

Fishing Tours Punta Cana

Fishing tours in Punta Cana, like most Punta Cana fishing charters, vary in how they get you to the water. The mahi-mahi trip, run by Punta Cana Travel Advisor, lists a 45-minute van ride from Punta Cana to Cabeza de Toro, then a 4-hour guided trip with sailing and marine life viewing, and a return to Punta Cana. The description says the boat uses the trolling method: lures and artificial bait are trailed behind the boat at a steady cruising speed. Hotel pickup and drop-off, gear, bait, support, drinks and food are on the inclusions list.

That listing excludes children under 14, pregnant women and people prone to seasickness. Its duration field says 1 day, but the description and the title say 4 hours, so I’d read the booking page for the time. The rating is 3.6 from 66 reviews, and I’d read the recent reviews for what went wrong before choosing it.

Punta Cana Fishing Charters

A Punta Cana fishing charter from creaturedes LLC is billed as a shared 4-hour charter, with a captain and a certified fishing guide, premium fishing equipment and bait. The title offers drinks and rum, and the inclusions list soft drinks, bottled water, beer and rum, plus round-trip hotel transportation. The duration is 4.5 hours, and the price is $130.

The rating is a perfect 5.0, but from two reviews, which is not enough to rank it above Power Adventures. It lists people prone to seasickness among the unsuitable guests. Because the charter is shared, you fish with other guests rather than having the boat to yourself. If you want a private boat, my page on yacht charters in Punta Cana shows the private options, though none of them is a fishing boat.

Fishing Trips Punta Cana Dominican Republic

Fishing charters in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, depart from the coast near Cabeza de Toro for at least one listing. The marina at Cap Cana is 15.1 km from Downtown Punta Cana in a straight line, but none of my fishing listings names a marina. The only named place is Cabeza de Toro, so I would ask your operator where the boat is waiting.

I can’t tell you which fish you will catch or how rough the water will be. Operators name targets; the sea decides. Two of the three listings exclude people prone to seasickness. If you are prone to it, my guide to catamaran tours in Punta Cana lists steadier boats, and the reef trips on my snorkeling in Punta Cana page stay close to shore.

What a Punta Cana Fishing Charter Includes

On all three Punta Cana fishing charters the basics are covered: rods, bait and drinks. Power Adventures and creaturedes include beer, and creaturedes adds rum, which for a 4.5-hour trip is a lot of alcohol on a boat, so I would pace myself. The mahi-mahi trip lists food as included, while Power Adventures lists food as not included, so pack a snack for that one. Tips are an extra on Power Adventures and unmentioned on the creaturedes charter.

The three listings differ most on who they take. The mahi-mahi trip excludes children under 14, which rules out many families. Power Adventures says it welcomes beginners, which is useful if you have never fished offshore. And creaturedes is a shared charter with a captain and a certified fishing guide, which suggests help with the gear, though the text does not describe the teaching in detail. If you are a beginner, ask the operator who sets the lines and who reels in the fish.

A fishing charter in Punta Cana also differs from the other boat tours in what you take home. None of the listings says whether you can keep your catch or have it cooked, so ask before you go rather than assuming a fish dinner.

Punta Cana Fishing Excursion

A Punta Cana fishing charter is a half-day commitment once the transfer is counted. Plan on the listed 4 to 4.5 hours plus pickup time, and ask the operator for the departure time, because none of the listings gave me one. If you are traveling with a group that does not fish, a boat with music suits them better, and my party boat in Punta Cana page compares three. Couples who want an evening on the water should read the sunset cruise page, and anyone visiting between January and March can add a day on the whale watching trips.

How I’d Choose a Fishing Charter in Punta Cana

Whichever fishing charter in Punta Cana you choose, ask whether the catch can be kept, confirm the departure time and check the cancellation window of 24 hours. For the whole list go back to every Punta Cana boat trip I compared, or to my home page.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a fishing charter in Punta Cana?

In my list a shared 4-hour mahi-mahi trip costs $100, a 4.5-hour shared charter with drinks and rum costs $130, and the Power Adventures deep-sea trip with hotel pickup costs $145 for 4 hours. That is $25 to $36 an hour per person. Prices are in US dollars and were checked in October 2026.

What fish can you catch on a Punta Cana fishing trip?

The Power Adventures listing names marlin, sailfish, tuna and mahi-mahi as the targets, and another listing is built around mahi-mahi caught by trolling. A listing names targets, not a guarantee. I can't give catch rates, and the sea decides, so I'd treat any promise of a particular fish as a hope rather than a fact.

Is fishing gear included on Punta Cana charters?

Yes on all three. Power Adventures lists fishing gear and bait, the mahi-mahi trip lists fishing gear and bait, and the creaturedes trip lists premium equipment and bait with a captain and certified fishing guide. Beer, soda and water are included on the first, and soft drinks, water, beer and rum on the third.

Can children go on a fishing charter in Punta Cana?

It depends on the trip. The 4-hour mahi-mahi listing excludes children under 14, pregnant women and people prone to seasickness. Power Adventures says the tour suits both seasoned anglers and beginners, and lists food and tips as not included. The third listing excludes people prone to seasickness. Ask the operator about your children's ages.

What time do fishing charters leave in Punta Cana?

The listings I compared don't give departure times in the text I read, so I can't promise one. Two include hotel pickup, and the mahi-mahi trip lists a 45-minute van ride to Cabeza de Toro before the boat. Check the time on your booking page and allow for the transfer on top of the 4 or 4.5 hours.
