OCTAVO PECADO EXPERIENCE
Tenerife Boat Rental - Yacht Octavo Pecado
5.0 (3) · from $101

A boat rental in Tenerife can mean a small yacht with a host, a skippered boat for a group or a boat you drive yourself, and the first two are what I could compare: the Octavo Pecado yacht at $101 per person and a Frillo Charter skippered boat at $505 for up to 10 people. For the shared cruises, my guide to boat tours in Tenerife has every listing I compared. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page.
My pick for a group is the Frillo Charter skippered boat at $505: fuel, skipper and snorkelling gear included. For a couple or a small party, the Octavo Pecado yacht at $101 per person is the more personal option, though both have very few reviews.
Tenerife boat hire splits into two kinds. With a skipper, you book a boat and a captain and tell them what you want; without one, you are responsible for the boat, and the Spanish licence rules apply to you. The Frillo Charter listing offers the skipper option with its boat Capitan Tres, for up to 10 people, for 2 to 3 hours at $505. The price includes fuel, the skipper, an explanation of the sailing, a boat awning, snorkelling gear, a cooler bag with a welcome drink, a swimming ladder, a map, GPS, music, life jackets and hotel pickup and drop-off.
The boat meets at Pier 8 and has two reviews, both 5 stars, so I can only tell you what the listing says. The listing describes the experience as freedom and privacy away from tourist beaches, with a bow solarium, a fridge, a freshwater shower and a Bluetooth speaker. Food is not included.

Frillo Charter Tenerife
My pick: Best for a group of up to 10: $505 per boat for 2 to 3 hours with skipper, fuel and snorkel gear, but only 2 reviews.
A boat charter in Tenerife with a host rather than a driver is the Octavo Pecado yacht experience. It leaves from Marina del Sur, the southernmost point of the island according to the listing, and sails along the coast with views of La Gomera. Then it enters a cove for a swim and a snack or meal, depending on the service you request, anchoring at 4 to 8 metres for snorkelling. The price starts at $101 per person for 3 hours and includes snacks and drinks, snorkelling, stand-up paddleboarding, a visit to a cove and two photographs.
It is rated 5 from only 3 reviews. One reviewer booked 3 hours and wished for longer, said the hosts were lovely, and saw five groups of whales close to the boat, and that the paddle and snorkelling masks were left for guests to use. It is a small sample, but it is the only rental in my data that mentions whales. The listing excludes people with mobility impairments.

OCTAVO PECADO EXPERIENCE
My pick: A personal yacht charter: from $101 per person, 3 hours, snacks, drinks, snorkelling and a cove; 5.0 from 3 reviews.

Boat rental in Tenerife with no licence is a common search, and the rule changed recently. Spanish Real Decreto 1188/2025 rewrote article 10 of Real Decreto 875/2014 from 1 October 2026: the licence-free exemption for motorboats up to 5 metres and 15 hp now covers private use only, and a renter must hold the matching title. The full text is in the BOE (BOE-A-2025-27010).
In plain words, a rental company may still advertise a no-licence boat, but I would not take that as fact. Neither listing in my data claims to be a no-licence rental: both are crewed or skippered. If you see a listing elsewhere that says no licence is needed, ask the operator which licence or skipper option applies to your date, and ask them to confirm in writing. A skippered boat like the Frillo Charter option takes the question away.
A yacht rental in Tenerife for a few hours is not a multi-day charter, and the Octavo Pecado listing is clear about that: three hours, a cove, a swim and a snack. For a longer or bigger yacht, I could not compare anything, because my data has no multi-day or bareboat charter. That is a gap, and I would rather say so than guess at prices.
What I can say from the place data is that several yacht operators are based at Puerto Colón, including Tenerife Sailing Charters, rated 4.9 on Google Maps, and White Tenerife, rated 4.8, but I haven’t compared their prices or services, so treat them as names to look up rather than recommendations. If you want a shared cruise on a catamaran rather than a private yacht, the page on a catamaran tour in Tenerife compares three.
If you are going to rent a yacht in Tenerife, I’d ask five questions before you pay: whether the price is per person or per boat, how many people fit, what is included for food and drink, which pier it leaves from and what happens in bad weather. The two listings answer some of these. Octavo Pecado is per person, and Frillo is per boat with fuel and skipper in the price.
For a private day with fishing instead of snorkelling, see a fishing charter in Tenerife. For a night out, the party boat in Tenerife page covers two parties with an open bar. For wildlife, see whale watching in Tenerife or dolphin watching in Tenerife, and for the water itself, snorkelling in Tenerife.
A boat rental in Tenerife is easiest to plan from the harbour backwards. Marina del Sur, where the Octavo Pecado yacht leaves, is on the southern tip of the island, while Pier 8 for the Frillo Charter trip is on the other side of the resort coast. Both listings are short, 2 to 3 hours, so I’d keep the rest of the day free for the transfer. Many people who search for a boat rental in Tenerife want a whole day, and neither of the rentals I compared offers one in my data, so ask the operator about longer times.
Think about who is coming. A private boat rental in Tenerife for 10 people at $505 is $50.50 each, which is cheaper per head than the $101 yacht, and the skipper handles the steering. For two people, the yacht is the better value than half a boat. If the sea is rough on your date, the operator decides whether the boat sails, and the listings say you can cancel up to 24 hours before for a full refund.
My short answer for a boat rental in Tenerife is the $505 Frillo Charter skippered boat for a group and the $101 Octavo Pecado yacht for a couple. Here is how I’d decide:
Before you book a boat rental in Tenerife, check the pier, the price basis and the cancellation text, which is free up to 24 hours on both. Choose a boat above and use the booking links to see availability, or see everything in Tenerife boat tours. The homepage lists the other cities I cover.
The two rentals I compared are the Octavo Pecado yacht from $101 per person for 3 hours and the Frillo Charter skippered boat at $505 for 2 to 3 hours, for up to 10 people. The first is priced per person and the second per boat. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
It depends on the boat and the date. Real Decreto 1188/2025 rewrote the Spanish exemption from 1 October 2026 so that small motorboats up to 5 metres and 15 hp can be used without a title for private use only, and a renter must hold the matching title. Ask the operator which licence or skipper option applies. The BOE text is linked on this page.
Some listings and operators say you can, but the rule changed on 1 October 2026 and I can't confirm it for any boat in my data. Real Decreto 1188/2025 limits the licence-free exemption to private use and requires renters to hold the matching title. The safe route is a skippered boat, like the Frillo Charter option at $505.
The Frillo Charter listing includes fuel, the skipper, snorkelling gear, a cooler bag with a welcome drink, a swimming ladder, a map, GPS, music, life jackets and hotel pickup and drop-off. The Octavo Pecado listing includes a boat route, snacks and drinks, snorkelling, paddleboarding, a cove visit and two photographs.
The Octavo Pecado yacht departs from Marina del Sur, the southernmost point of the island according to the listing. The Frillo Charter skippered boat meets at Pier 8. Marina del Sur and Puerto Colón are on opposite sides of the south coast, so check the pier on your confirmation before you travel.
For most visitors, I think so. A skipper handles the steering, the route and the safety, and the Frillo listing says its skipper option takes up to 10 people. It also avoids the licence question for renters. The trade-off is price: $505 per boat for 2 to 3 hours, against $101 per person on Octavo Pecado.
