A private boat tour on the Amalfi Coast means a skippered gozzo, the traditional local boat, hired for your group alone. I found three in my list of 13 trips, and their price is per boat: $763, $802 and $842. Two of the three state a group of up to 6. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the booking links are affiliate links, as I explain on my about page. All three also appear in my full comparison of boat tours on the Amalfi Coast.
My pick for a first private boat tour on the Amalfi Coast is Amalfi Cruises ($802, 6 hours, 5.0 from 38 reviews), because it is the longest and includes a lunch stop and swim stops. If you want the shortest, cheapest outing, I’d take the 4-hour Sea Boat and You tour ($763, 4.8 from 39). Positano Dama Charter ($842) is the one for a private pier and a more custom plan, with only 29 reviews.

Amalfi Cruises
My pick: My pick for a full private day: $802 for the boat, 6 hours, swim stops and lunch, up to 6 guests, 5.0 from 38 reviews.

Sea Boat & You Charter
My pick: The shortest private outing: $763 for the boat, 4 hours, drinks, snacks and cave admission, 4.8 from 39 reviews.

POSITANO DAMA CHARTER
My pick: The most custom plan: $842 for the boat, 4 to 7 hours from a private pier in Positano, 5.0 from 29 reviews.
Two of the three private boat tours in Amalfi Coast waters start in Positano. Sea Boat and You Charter boards from a platform on Positano beach, and the listing says the team will send the exact spot on WhatsApp if needed. The tour lasts 4 hours and the listing includes fuel, a skipper, a life jacket, prosecco, soft drinks, snacks, a snorkeling mask, a beach towel, swim breaks at anchor, admission to the caves and tourist taxes. A toilet, a shower and a refrigerator are on board. One reviewer in October called the captain polite and knowledgeable, another praised the captain’s commentary on each place.
The second is Positano Dama Charter. The skipper greets you at a private pier in Positano, with two meeting points to choose from, and the listing says the plan is agreed with the skipper. It describes sailing towards Amalfi, with a swim and photo stop and the Furore Fjord on the way, and an Emerald Grotto visit. The inclusions list an English-speaking skipper, life jackets, beach towels, soft and alcoholic drinks, snacks and fruit, a limoncello tasting, snorkeling masks, Bluetooth speakers, a shower, a toilet, taxes and fuel, and the Emerald Grotto fee. Lunch and hotel pick-up are listed as not included, and the highlights mention WiFi on board.
An Amalfi Coast private boat charter is priced per boat, which makes it easy to compare. The three private boat tours on the Amalfi Coast differ most in time and structure. Sea Boat and You is a flat 4 hours with swim breaks. Amalfi Cruises lasts 6 hours and is built as a sequence of 30-minute stops: a pass by Conca dei Marini, a swim there, a pass by the Fiordo di Furore, Praiano, a secret stop, a swim at Positano, an hour for lunch at a local restaurant, and Atrani on the way back. Positano Dama is the most open at 4 to 7 hours.
I’d pick an Amalfi Coast private boat tour by how you like to spend a day on the water. If you want a lunch on shore without planning it, Amalfi Cruises is the one. If you want to be home in time for dinner, the 4-hour tour does that. The table compares the three in one place.
| Operator | Price per boat | Group | Duration | Boat | Rating | Cancellation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amalfi Cruises | $802 | Up to 6 | 6 hours | 8 m gozzo made in Sorrento | 5.0 (38) | Free up to 24 hours before |
| Sea Boat and You Charter | $763 | Up to 6 | 4 hours | Gozzo | 4.8 (39) | Free up to 24 hours before |
| Positano Dama Charter | $842 | Not stated | 4 to 7 hours | Furnished gozzo with WiFi | 5.0 (29) | Free up to 24 hours before |
None of my three private boat tours on the Amalfi Coast leaves from Sorrento. Amalfi Cruises starts in Amalfi, and its listing says the team may arrange a pick-up somewhere else on request, so ask if Sorrento matters to you. The shared Coast and Cuisine trips do list Sorrento among their departure ports, as I explain on my snorkeling page, and the Capri day starts there too. They are small-group boats, not private ones.
I found no private boat tour in Amalfi Coast waters that starts in Naples either. Naples is outside the area my data covers, so I will not guess at transfer times or prices from there. If you are staying in Naples, the closest things in my list are the Salerno trips, for example the full-day sailboat with hotel pick-up in Salerno, covered on my sailing page. Check the transfer in your own plans before you book a boat that leaves from Amalfi or Positano.
People who want a private yacht on the Amalfi Coast book a private boat tour in Amalfi Coast waters, and and what my list offers is smaller: gozzo boats of about 8 metres. The Amalfi Cruises boat is 8 metres, made in Sorrento by hand, with a bathroom on board. The Sea Boat and You listing calls its boat spacious and modern with several comfort areas, and the Positano Dama boat is described as fully furnished with WiFi. None is a superyacht or a multi-cabin charter. If that is what you need, ask the operators whether a larger boat is available for a larger group.
A private boat tour in Amalfi Coast waters looks expensive until you divide it by the group. At six people the three boats cost about $127, $134 and $140 each, which is above the $100 to $101 of a shared small-group cruise but gives you your own plan, your own swim stops and nobody else’s schedule. At two people the same boat costs $382 to $421 each, and I’d then choose a shared cruise unless privacy matters most. My comparison of shared options is on the snorkeling page.
The inclusions of a private boat tour on the Amalfi Coast are close to each other. Every private boat in my list includes a skipper, life jackets, drinks and snorkeling masks, and two include the Emerald Grotto fee or cave admission. What they leave out matters more: lunch and hotel pick-up on the Positano Dama trip, the Capri crossing on the Amalfi Cruises trip, and Emerald Grotto tickets on that same listing. An Amalfi Coast private boat tour is only a bargain if you know what you will pay for on the day.
Choosing a private boat tour in Amalfi Coast waters comes down to group size and how much you want planned.
The Amalfi Cruises private boat tour suits a group of friends who want an easy full day with a long lunch. Its highlights talk about swimming at the most beautiful beach, eating local food away from tourist traps and swimming into grottos, and it avoids group tours by design. The 4-hour Amalfi Coast private boat tour from Positano suits couples and small families who want the coast without a whole day on a boat, and it includes admission to the caves and tourist taxes, so there are fewer extras to pay. The Positano Dama trip suits a group that wants to design the day with the skipper, from a private pier, with the option of a longer 7-hour route.
I would not book any Amalfi Coast private boat tour for a large group, because two state a limit of 6 guests and the third does not state its limit on the page I have, so ask.
Three details separate these listings. The first is the Emerald Grotto. The Amalfi Cruises listing says the tour offers the possibility of stopping at the Emerald Grotto, with tickets not included, while its inclusions list says an Emerald Grotto ticket is included, so I’d ask which is true. The Positano Dama page puts the grotto fee in the inclusions and also says it is payable on the spot. The second is lunch: only Amalfi Cruises has it on the itinerary. The third is the weather. An October reviewer on the Amalfi Cruises trip found the seas a little rough, said it was not the guide’s fault, and still gave five stars.
Whichever private boat tour on the Amalfi Coast you pick, read my boat tours page for the shared options, and the boat rental page if you would rather drive yourself. For a short evening instead, see the sunset cruise page, or go back to my home page for other cities.
In my list the three private boats cost $763, $802 and $842 per boat, not per person. The $763 trip lasts 4 hours, the $802 one 6 hours and the $842 one 4 to 7 hours. Two of them state a limit of 6 guests. At six people that is roughly $127 to $140 each. Prices are in US dollars, checked in October 2026.
For a first private day I'd book the Amalfi Cruises trip at $802: 6 hours, a perfect 5.0 from 38 reviews, with swim stops and lunch ashore. For a shorter outing, the 4-hour Sea Boat and You tour at $763 is rated 4.8 from 39 reviews and includes fuel, taxes and gratuity according to the listing.
Two leave from Positano and one from Amalfi. Sea Boat and You boards from a platform on Positano beach, Positano Dama uses a private pier in Positano, and Amalfi Cruises leaves from the Darsena dock behind the Flavio Gioia statue. The Amalfi operator says to ask if you need a pick-up elsewhere.
Not in the ones I compared. The Amalfi Cruises listing says in plain words that the tour does not include Capri, and the Positano Dama and Sea Boat and You pages describe coast routes towards Amalfi and its caves. For a Capri crossing, my list has the shared Coast and Cuisine day, not a private boat.
The listings include prosecco, soft drinks and snacks on the 4-hour trip, and limoncello, snacks and fruit on the Positano Dama trip. Amalfi Cruises includes beer, soft drinks, a bottle of prosecco, limoncello and water, with a lunch stop at a local restaurant. Check what is on your date before you pay.
All three listings say you can cancel up to 24 hours before the start for a full refund, according to the booking-platform text. The sea can turn, and one October reviewer called it a little rough on a private trip, so I'd keep a spare day in your plans and read the policy before you pay.
