The Amigo Tours Costa Mujeres catamaran tour is a shared 8- to 10-hour boat day to Isla Mujeres with snorkeling, an open bar and a beach club, sold from $35 per person on GetYourGuide for guests staying in the Costa Mujeres hotel area. The price is a "from" price: lunch and hotel pickup are paid upgrades.

The detail that changes the decision is the $20 port fee. It is listed as not included in all three options, so the cheapest ticket costs at least $55, and the boat boards at Marina Las Perlas in the Cancun hotel zone, not in Costa Mujeres, whatever the title suggests.

This page covers one product from my Isla Mujeres boat tours comparison. The same boat and itinerary is also sold under a Puerto Morelos name; I explain the difference in the Amigo Tours Puerto Morelos page. For the whole trip, start at the Harbour Advisor home page.

What is the Amigo Tours Costa Mujeres catamaran tour to Isla Mujeres?

It is a group catamaran day from the Cancun coast to Isla Mujeres, run by Amigo Tours LATAM, with a reef snorkel, a long beach-club stop at Playa Norte and free time in town. The Costa Mujeres version is the one marketed to guests of that hotel strip, who can add hotel pickup.

The sailing is the cheap part of the day; the beach club is the long part. The itinerary gives 105 minutes at Playa Norte for lunch, a beer and a swim, then two hours of free time in the town, so you spend close to four hours on land.

I have not been on board. Everything below comes from the listing, my own data pulls and the nine reviews.

Which of the three options should you pick?

The $35 ticket is the bare option with snorkeling, open bar and the beach club. Lunch is the first upgrade; hotel pickup is the second. The options differ in what you must arrange yourself.

Options on the Amigo Tours Costa Mujeres listing - as stated by the operator
OptionIncludedYou still pay or arrange
StandardSnorkeling, open bar, beach club accessTransport to the marina, meals, $20 port fee
UpgradedStandard plus buffet lunchTransport to the marina, $20 port fee
All-inclusiveUpgraded plus hotel pickup and drop-off$20 port fee

The listing shows only the "from" price, so the upgraded and all-inclusive prices appear in the booking calendar. My advice: if you are staying in Costa Mujeres, take the all-inclusive option, because the standard ticket assumes you can reach Marina Las Perlas on your own.

Tip: the lunch buffet is not in the basic option. If the day runs long, as one reviewer says lunch ran late on a similar trip, eat breakfast well.

Does the catamaran really leave from Costa Mujeres?

No. The listing title says Costa Mujeres and a highlight says Puerto Morelos, but the meeting point is Marina Las Perlas in the Cancun hotel zone. When a listing contradicts itself, I trust the meeting point, because that is where you must be.

Marina Las Perlas on Google Maps sits on Boulevard Kukulcan near km 2.5, about 12 km in a straight line from the Isla Mujeres ferry terminal and about 8.5 km from the Aquaworld Costa Mujeres on Google Maps, which I use here as a landmark for the Costa Mujeres area (my calculation from coordinates).

Check that your hotel is on the list before paying for pickup. A hotel outside the 20 may not be served.

What is the timeline of the day?

The listed activities total 6 hours 30 minutes, yet the listing says 8-10 hours. The rest is hotel pickup, check-in and the drive, which is why a reviewer reported boarding at 10:00 and being told to be back at 3:20 PM.

Only 30 minutes of the day is snorkeling, and one reviewer puts it nearer 20. The island walk is easier than it looks: from the Isla Mujeres ferry terminal it is 3 minutes on foot to the main square and 12 minutes to Playa Norte. Walk from the ferry terminal to the main square and Walk from the ferry terminal to Playa Norte (OSRM foot routing, fetched 2026-10-17).

What does the Amigo Tours Costa Mujeres tour cost in total?

Budget at least $55 per adult for the standard option and more for the upgrades, plus tips and drinks beyond the bar. The listing shows "souvenirs" and "optional tips" as extras.

Budget for one adult - standard option
ItemAmountPaid when
Ticket, standard option, "from" price$35 (about 643 MXN)At booking, or pay later

Hotel pickupUpgrade price in the booking calendarAt booking
Tips and souvenirsYour choiceOn the day
Minimum total$55

Even at $55 the day costs about $6 an hour on a 9-hour reading, a third of the city median. That is the main attraction of this product, and also why it feels crowded.

What are the snorkeling limits?

Snorkelers need to be 10 or older and fit, and the listing excludes pregnant women and anyone over 60 from the snorkel part. Non-snorkelers can stay on board.

Bring a passport or ID, swimwear, a change of clothes, a towel, biodegradable sunscreen and cash. The listing does not name the reef, so I will not either. Parts of this coast are inside the Costa Occidental de Isla Mujeres national park, where CONANP lists a 125 MXN per-person entry fee (CONANP, Costa Occidental de Isla Mujeres); ask Amigo Tours whether your snorkel stop is inside it and whether the $20 port fee covers any park charge.

How does the Amigo Tours Costa Mujeres tour compare with other catamarans?

It is the cheapest catamaran day in my data and also the one with the thinnest review base, so the saving is real but so is the uncertainty. Here is the set.

Isla Mujeres catamaran and beach days - GetYourGuide prices checked 2026-10-17
TripPriceLengthRatingExtra to pay
Amigo Tours Costa Mujeresfrom $358-10 h4.1/5 (9)$20 port fee
Amigo Tours Puerto Morelosfrom $358-10 h4.4/5 (5)$20 port fee

Aquaworld beach day$958 h5.0/5 (1)Dock fee included
Dancer Cruise$1197 h4.8/5 (170)None listed

The Puerto Morelos listing is the same boat with a different hotel list, and I treat them as twins. If you want reviews you can trust, the Dancer Cruise has 170 of them at 4.8/5 and costs $64 more than the Amigo ticket plus port fee.

Is a Costa Mujeres catamaran day to Isla Mujeres worth it compared with the other boats?

It is worth it if you want a low-cost party boat and a beach afternoon, and not worth it if you want a quiet or a snorkel-focused day. The sample is small, but the mix of crowded, short snorkel and lively crew is consistent.

When is the best time to go?

March to May are the driest months, and October is the wettest, with a typical 20 days of at least 1 mm of rain. Wind, not rain, is the specific risk for this product, because it decides whether the snorkel stop runs.

Hurricane season in the Atlantic lasts from 1 June to 30 November (US National Hurricane Center). Sunset runs from 18:08 in December to 19:33 in July at Isla Mujeres (sunrise-sunset.org API, UTC-5 all year); with the boat back around mid-afternoon, you will not see it from the water. The next public holiday is Revolution Day on 2026-11-16; expect fuller boats.

What do passengers say about the Amigo Tours Costa Mujeres tour?

Passengers rate it 4.1/5 across 9 GetYourGuide reviews: seven 5-star or 4-star ratings, one 3-star and one 1-star without text. Below is what the written reviews say.

The sample includes positive and negative ratings, which is useful. It is small, though, so I would not read the 1-star rating as more than a reminder to check the weather and the option you pick.

Who should skip the Amigo Tours Costa Mujeres tour?

Skip it if you use a wheelchair, if you want a quiet boat or if you want more than 30 minutes of snorkeling. The listing names wheelchair users as not suitable.

Want a different pickup zone? The Puerto Morelos version lists 23 other hotels, and the hub page shows every tour.
